From iran agrofood to iran food + hospitality 2006 More focused, better results! Known as Iran s largest and most international food, beverages and technology event ever since its first inception in 1994, iran agrofood is being split from 2006 on into three specialized trade shows. iran food + hospitality 2006, iran food + drink tec 2006 and iran agro 2006 will be held as three events at the same time, all in dedicated exhibition halls at the Tehran International Exhibition Center from 28-31 of May 2006. Said Franco Passaro, Trade Commissioner with the Italian Embassy Trade & Promotion Section (ICE Tehran). We welcome the new concept for this important event. Especially for the trade visitors, it is easier to compare local and international offers and solutions when specific sectors such as food and drink technology, agriculture, food and beverage products and shop and gastro sectors are grouped in dedicated halls. This year we had 516 sqm for the official Italian pavilion plus quite a few Italian exhibitors outside our pavilion. For 2006, we plan to enlarge our collective participation taking more space in order to accommodate also catering equipment. In 2005, the event saw a record participation of 440 exhibitors from 22 countries, including seven official national pavilions from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Thailand plus the Tea Boards of India and Sri Lanka. 35,000 trade buyers attended the show, which had grown considerably from 16,000 square-meters and four halls in 2004 to 22,000 square-meters and five halls in 2005. For iran food and hospitality 2006, even more international pavilions are expected. Exhibitors will be allocated according to their produce. Producers of foodstuffs and beverages will exhibit in Halls 35, 40, 40a and 44.2 of the Tehran International Exhibition Center whereas Halls 5, 6 and 7 have been reserved for the display of hospitality, hotel, shop and catering equipment.

First time participants in 2005, Austria left a heavy footprint on the event. Said Franz Ernstbrunner, project manager with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Austrian Trade: Our Austrian food and drink producers have been very satisfied with their participation. For 2006, we will increase our exhibition area. Within the Austrian pavilion, major fun drink brands such as Red Bull, rhino's and Bomba had very successfully attracted the crowd. Also the Thai pavilion featuring ten Thai food producers already confirmed to be back at iran food and hospitality 2006. Organized by fairtrade of Germany and Palar Samaneh, Tehran, iran food + hospitality 2006 enjoys top official support of the Iranian Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industries and Mines and the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture. Extra oil clash speed up Iranian imports In recent years Iran has pursued a series of economic reform policies and strategies, concentrating on economic liberalization in financial and commercial sectors. With GDP growth rates of around 7% during recent years, the 70 million strong Iranian population profits from a constant economic upswing. Heavy increase of both, exports and imports, makes the country one of the most important Middle Eastern destinations for the food and hospitality industry. Being the world s second-largest gas producer, Iran also holds 10% of the world's crude oil reserves. The extra oil clash helps underpin increased spending and drives Iran s economic expansion. Backed by growth in nearly all sectors of the economy and high oil and gas prices during the last years, exports from the EU into Iran grew by around 25% in 2003 and 2004. This trend continues in 2005.
