INFORMATION ON GRATUITIES Many travelers view tipping as a difficult subject, though this need not be the case. The first thing to remember is that tipping is not compulsory, nor are there any fixed amounts. The bottom line in determining whether to and how much to tip is to ask yourself how much the individual did to make your travels more enjoyable. It is with this in mind that we offer the following information. On a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro, many travelers choose to tip their guides and porters. PLEASE NOTE that your gratuity should be presented at the end of the climb and should be addressed on all party concerned i.e porters & guides, which will distribute it amongst those who have assisted you during the climb. The following amounts are suggested as a tipping guideline and these will vary depending on the number of climbers in your group (the amount is per climber): 1 person... between US$250 and US$270 2 to 3 people... between US$190 and US$230 4 to 7 people... between US$150 and US$180 7 or more people... between US$100 and US$130 Additional Costs as Needed: Hotel before and/or after Safari Pamoja Lodge in Arusha: Very nice, peaceful & quiet area with garden for them to relax. Easy access to the City Center, reliable & comfortable rooms. Single: $45 per night on Bed & Breakfast Double: $70 per night on Bed & Breakfast Triple: $85 per night on Bed & Breakfast Transportation: Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha: $20 per person one way (shuttle bus)

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS WITH IMPORTANT HINTS ABOUT OUR TOURS SCHEDULED TOURS & SAFARIS are all based on minimum 2 persons unless otherwise stated. AGE LIMITS: Some hotels in Africa do not allow children under a certain age. In East Africa we do not have an age limit but if you have small children we do recommend a private safari. We do not have a specific age limit, but for overland camping tours and certain safaris the distances can be long and some trekking involved, which is why you should be relatively fit if you are older than 55 years of age. CAMPING TOURS: On the 5 star camping tours (Wildlife Camping) you will only need to bring your basic necessities. On the 2-4 star camping tours (Adventure Camping) you will also need to bring your own sleeping bag and will be expected to participate in putting up your tent, preparing the meals etc. Three man tents are used, but sleep a maximum of two. CATEGORIES: We have graded our tours from 2 5 stars according to the standard of accommodation, service, vehicles and number of participants. HOTELS: We have personally chosen the hotels in the program and find them to be of a good standard, well managed offering good service and value for money. However, places do change and we reserve the right to amend any of the properties to suitable alternatives if we feel that standards have dropped. MEALS: The meal plan is described in abbreviation: B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner, DBB = Dinner, Bed & Breakfast, FB = Full Board, R/O = Room Only, FI = Fully inclusive i.e.: 3 meals daily and one or two activities, such as game drive or walk (drinks not included except where mentioned) RATES: All prices shown are NETT, in US$ as stated. PPS = per person sharing, SGL = per single person and SRS = single room supplement. LANGUAGE: Unless otherwise stated the language on the tours is English. LUGGAGE: For your own comfort, please limit your luggage on the tours to 15kg. On domestic flights the luggage limit is 15kg and for charter flights the luggage limit is strictly 10kg per person in soft bags. On most 3-5 star hotel tours there will be porters available at the hotels at a nominal rate. If you are going on an overland camping tour it is advisable to keep your clothes in dust-proof soft bags (plastic bags). Binoculars and a zoom lens, a torch and a water bottle are a must for safaris. SMOKING: No smoking is allowed in our vehicles, but we do make frequent stops en route. VEHICLES: We use a variety of vehicles depending on the tour or safari. Due to the conditions of the roads in some parts of Africa, general wear & tear occurs at a much faster rate than normal but all vehicles are of a good standard, well maintained and regularly serviced. In Tanzania we use 4x4 vehicles throughout the safari. VISAS & DRIVING LICENCE: Please make sure that you have a valid visa and driving license if necessary. PRACTICAL INFORMATION CLOTHING: We recommend that you bring light casual clothes, (please bring khaki clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat and insect repellent if you go on safari). In the evenings it can get rather chilly, especially in the desert areas and in the months of May-August, so bring a sweater and a windbreaker. Certain 5-star hotels, require a smart dress code for dinner. CURRENCY: All major credit cards, travelers cheques and cash are widely accepted although some hotels charge a 5-7% surcharge for payment with credit cards. However in the rural areas and in certain safari camps, only cash is accepted. ELECTRICITY: You will find 220V in most African countries, but you will often need adapters. Most hotels have adapters available. FOOD & DRINKS: In all the food is excellent and you will find a good mix of African, European and International cuisine. Fresh vegetables, seafood and meats make it an exceptional culinary experience to travel here. Tap water is not recommended, only bottled water should be consumed. At any lodge or hotel it is recommended that guests check with staff first to see if the tap water is drinkable. In light of that most properties including permanent tents camps provide ½ a liter of mineral water bottles.

BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS WITH IMPORTANT HINTS ABOUT OUR TOURS (continued) HEALTH: Malaria is prevalent in certain areas, and if you come from a yellow fever area you must have a valid yellow fever inoculation certificate. Please check with your doctor before you leave home. INSURANCE: Travel insurance is not included. We do however make sure that our vehicles are properly insured, and our suppliers hold the necessary insurance. LANGUAGE: English is widely spoken. PASSPORT: Please make sure that your passport is valid for a minimum of 6 month after your departure from Africa. Please consult your travel agency or the embassies to check the visa requirements. SECURITY: In the cities of Africa, as anywhere in the world: do not carry a large amount of money; use the safety deposit boxes at the hotels. Take care of your handbags, cameras and jewellery. Do not walk at night-time unless you know the area. Do not leave valuables visible in the vehicles. SHOPPING: You will find excellent shopping opportunities in Tanzania, e.g.: stone & woodcarvings.
