The SAR team stood down pending further RCMP information. SWE LAND 6 15 6 8 Chilliwack SAR and 7 Hope SAR members responded to rescue 6 lost hikers in the Flora Lake area near Chilliwack. The hikers were located safe and debriefed at the trail head parking lot by SAR members. NEA LAND 3 12 3 9 Mackenzie SAR members with assistance from 3 PEP Air members, responded to search for three hunters missing for five days in the Aiken Lake area. The subjects had been stuck in the snow for 5 days and waited for the snow to melt. Once the hunters had left the bush, they contact their families who advised RCMP. SAR was stood down shortly after. SWE LAND 1 10 1 10 Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to search for a missing 12 year old boy in Langley. The boy was located in good condition and was handed over to police. SWE LAND 1 19 1 19 Squamish SAR members responded to search for a 4 year old missing from his home on Garibaldi Ave. The child was found, unharmed, close to home. NEA LAND 1 9 1 9 Mackenzie SAR members responded to search for a missing mushroom picker last seen in Tsay Keh. The subject was located unharmed and returned to camp. NEA LAND 4 12 4 12 South Cariboo SAR members responded to search for a missing family in the 100 Mile House area. The family was located in good condition. They had failed to advise anyone of where they were going and for how long. SWE CTL 2 7 2 7 Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to rescue 2 females stranded on a sand bar in Livingston Creek. The subjects were rescued successfully. 3 3 Kelowna Marine Rescue members responded following a report of an overturned boat on Okanagan Lake near Dockside Marina. Upon closer observation, the subject of the report was found to be a flock of seagulls. VIR LAND 1 27 1 A total of 27 SAR members from Nanaimo, Arrowsmith, Ladysmith and Cowichan responded to assist RCMP to search an area of interest, near the Bailey Studio on Rosstown Road, for a subject who had been missing for several weeks. After 4 days of searching, SAR was stood down pending further RCMP investigation. SWE AIR ELT 3 3 members of PEP Air responded to locate an ELT sounding in the Pitt Meadows area. The ELT was located and silenced. SWE LAND 4 18 4 18 Squamish SAR members responded following a PLB activation at Lovely Water Lake in Squamish. The PLB owner was part of a group of 4 hikers. The SAR team interviewed other hikers on the trail and

It is believed that the PLB was accidentally activated. SWE LAND 1 6 1 6 North Shore Rescue members responded to assist a hiker who had an allergic reaction halfway up the Grouse Grind, the patient was passed over to the local fire department in reasonable condition. SWE LAND 1 11 1 11 Pemberton SAR members responded to investigate a spot beacon that had signalled 12 times in the Tenquille Lake area. The subject was located alive and well by the RCMP. CTL LAND 1 10 1 10 Penticton SAR members responded to rescue a distressed man from the bottom of a canyon south of the Kettle Valley Trestle Bridge in Summerland. The subject was extracted by heli and transferred to BCAS. SWE LAND 1 10 1 10 Squamish SAR members responded to The Chief to rescue a 19 year old male hiker suffering leg cramps, who could no longer walk. The subject was successfully brought out and was transferred to BCAS. CTL LAND 1 10 1 10 Vernon SAR members responded to rescue a distressed hiker on Rattlesnake Hill in Vernon. The subject was brought out by SAR and was turned over to BCAS. NEA 6 4 Prince George SAR and 2 Robson Valley SAR members responded to investigate a report of an aluminium boat on Alberta Lake in Valemount. Upon arrival, SAR members ascertained that the boat had been abandoned and no one was in distress. SEA LAND 1 12 1 11 Sparwood SAR members and 1 PEP Air member responded to search for a despondent female that was driving around in a pick up truck. The subject called home and the RCMP were able to get a location. Just as SAR was about to respond the RCMP located the female and the SAR team was stood down. SWE LAND 1 4 1 2 Ridge Meadows and 2 Coquitlam SAR members responded to search for a possible person in distress in the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge. The individual self rescued, and the SAR team was stood down. CTL 3 3 Kelowna Marine Rescue members responded following a report of a heavily listing sailboat on Okanagan Lake. The rescue crew stood down after they responded and were unable to locate anything. VIR LAND 1 14 1 14 members of Arrowsmith SAR responded to assist Errington Fire Rescue and BCAS with an injured horseback rider at Swayne and Station Roads in Errington. The subject was assessed, packaged and carried by wheel stretcher for approximately 2.5 kms and was then passed to BCAS for further assessment and transport to the hospital. 30 13:30 150209 SEA 3 17 3 6 Kimberley, 8 Columbia Valley and 3 Cranbrook SAR members responded to search for 3 missing kayakers near the Skookumchuk River Bridge. The subjects were located in good condition and were air lifted out. 30 17:15 VIR LAND 1 4 1 4 Nanaimo SAR members responded to rescue a

150210 injured mountain biker on Weigles Road. The SAR team was stood down while mustering, as BCAS was able to access the patient without SAR assistance. 30 18:27 150211 31 02:00 150212 31 09:53 150213 31 13:38 150214 31 13:38 150215 WEEK TOTAL YEAR TO DATE VIR LAND 1 11 1 11 Powell River SAR members responded after receiving reports of an incapacitated female hiker half a day's hike in on the Sunshine Coast Trail. After several hours of searching with no sign of the hiking party, SAR were advised that the subject had been located at the Powell River General Hospital. The party had hiked down to the road and flagged down a passing vehicle who gave them a ride into town. VIR LAND 1 28 1 28 Arrowsmith SAR members responded to search for a female who failed to return from walking the dog along Island Highway West. SAR was stood down when the subject was found alive and well by the RCMP. SWE LAND 1 20 1 20 Squamish SAR members responded to rescue an injured individual who had taken a 30' fall above the Old Salt Shed. A HETS rescue was performed and the patient was airlifted out of the area and delivered to a BCAS crew for transport to the hospital. SWE LAND 1 17 1 17 Comox Valley SAR members responded to rescue an injured hiker on the Paradise Meadows Boardwalk Trail on Mount Washington. The subject was located and handed over to BCAS. SWE LAND 1 34 1 18 Mission and 13 Chilliwack SAR members along with 3 PEP Air members responded to rescue an injured quad rider who had fallen 20 feet over a bank on the Norrish FSR. WEEKLY INCIDENT REPORT 25-31 MAY 2015 BODY RECOVERY On 25 May 15, Terrace SAR conducted body recovery in the Kalum Lake area at the request of the RCMP. On 31 May 15, Kamloops SAR conducted a body recovery in the Lytton area. The team was stood down with no results. DANGEROUS GOODS On 25 May 15, a six inch diameter natural gas pipeline was punctured in the City of Vancouver. Homes in the immediate vicinity were evacuated and one elementary school was advised to shelter in place while Fortis isolated the gas line and repairs were done to prevent any further release. The Ministry of Environment Response Officer (MOE RO) raised the incident to Code 2 (urgent status). The City of Vancouver activated their EOC to address both situational awareness and public messaging.
