Dear Engineers, My heartfelt greetings to all of you. It gives me very great pleasure to meet you all once again through this communiqué. I wish each and every members with zeal a happy and prosperous New Year 2018. I pray the Almighty to shower blessings on all of us for prosperity, success and good health throughout the year. With the support of all members, the 32nd Indian Engineering Congress was organized in a well planned way. The National Advisory Committee, Organising Committee, Technical Committee and Committee Members has actively worked for the congress. The quality of the 32nd IEC 2017 was very much appreciated by all the participants. I thank each and every one for the support and guidance to make the congress a grand success. I am very happy to share that the IE(I), Tamilnadu State Centre organized an All India Seminar on Technological Interventions in Total Value Chain of Farming to Double Farm Income which was held on 20th & 21st January 2018 at IE(I), TNSC, auditorium under the aegis of Agricultural Engineering Division. This seminar was organized in a grand manner. I wish to inform you that 31st National Convention of Aerospace Engineers & National Seminar on Innovation, Trends and Strategies of Indian Aerospace Sector - Present and Future will be held on 9th & 10th February 2018 at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. I invite all the students from Engineering Colleges to participate in this Convention. I request my member friends to bring in more and more new members into the fold of IEI with a slogan EVERY MEMBER INDUCT A NEW MEMBER to double the strength. Proceedings of the 32nd Indian Engineering Congress 21-23 December 2017 The Institution of Engineers (India) had organized the 32nd Indian Engineering Congress on the theme Innovation in Engineering: Competitive Strategy Perspective during 21st 23rd December 2017 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai. The 32nd Indian Engineering Congress was presided over by Shri Navinchandra B Vasoya, President IE(I) and inaugurated by Thiru M C Sampath, Hon ble Minister for Industries, Government of Tamilnadu. Er Rajiv Mittal, Managing Director & Group CEO, VA Tech Wabag Ltd., was the Guest of Honour and Shri Sisir Kumar Banerjee, President-Elect, IE(I) and Dr. Marlene Kanga, President, World Federation of Engineering Organizations were the Special Guest. Industries and Institutionals awards during 32nd IEC 2017 Memorial Lectures: Following the inaugural function, various Memorial Lectures were organized during the Congress. 60 th Sir M Visveswvaraya Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director, IIT Madras. 39th Sir R N Mookerjee Memorial Lecture was delivered by Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Former Vice Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solution. 26th Dr Amithabha Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr S Rajamani, Chairman, Asian International Union of Environment Commission. 3rd Dr K L Rao Memorial Lecture was delivered by Er V Ranganathan, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Director, IIT Madras Former Vice Chairman, CTS Dr S Rajamani, Chairman, AIUEC Visionary Address: Visionary Talk by Dr Ajeet Bajpai, Director General, NCIIPC and Dr Sarat Kumar Acharya, Chairman, NLCIL were also delivered during these three days. Glimpses of Engineering Personalities: Outstanding Engineers Prof Ajoy Kumar Ray, Director, IIEST, Mr V S Verma, Former Chairman, CERC, Mr Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board were honoured under Glimpses of Engineering Personalities during the Congress. Paper Presentation: Technical Papers were presented by speakers from all over the country under 15 Engineering disciplines. Women Engineers Meet: Women Engineers Meet was organized on 23 rd December 2017. 30 Woman Engineers actively took part in the event. The IE(I) Hosur Local Centre has received Best Local Centre award and Best Centre award for conducting more technical activities in the event. IEI Alumni Meet: About 50 alumni members took part in this meet. A souvenir was released during this occasion and alumni members were honoured at this meet.
