Emergency Motions Motions DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE JULY 15 th 2015 196 Councillor Ray McHugh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee This Area Committee agrees that the dressing rooms in Stanaway Park are repaired as soon as feasible and any plan to remove the dressing room will be rejected by this Area Committee. 197 Councillor Daithi Doolan s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee In noting that the sanitary units in Labre Park are not fit for purpose as and pose a serious health risk, Dublin City Council will immediately refurbish each one pending the full redevelopment of Labre Park. 198 Councillor Catherine Ardagh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee That the South Central Area Committee ask the Area Manager to put in place a specific traffic management plan during the construction of the new children s hospital at the St James s Hospital campus in conjunction with an Garda Síochána. 205 Councillor Ray McHugh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee This Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to give a monthly update to this Area Committee of all allocation in the area and what position they held and in what band. 206 Councillor Catherine Ardagh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee That the South Central Area Committee ask the Area Manager to put in place a specific traffic management plan during the re-development of the Kilmainham Courthouse in conjunction with an Garda Síochána and advise when the redevelopment will be completed.
207 Councillor Tina MacVeigh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee Despite the international outcry following last summer's slaughter in Gaza, Israeli policies and practices of annexation, occupation and brutal military control continue. Recent election results in Israel suggest that these practices will only intensify, creating ever deepening violations of social, economic, political and human rights for the Palestinian people. On foot of motions passed by Dublin City Council last year condemning the attacks on Gaza and calling for arms and trade embargos and sanctions to be imposed on Israel, this Area Committee: supports the Palestinian-led international civil society initiative calling for the end of the arms trade with Israel endorses the 'End The Irish Arms Trade With Israel' Campaign of the Ireland- Palestine Solidarity Campaign calls on the government of Ireland to end the Irish arms trade with Israel, to advocate for an international arms embargo at EU and UN levels and to take the brave step to become the first EU member state to openly call for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement Furthermore, this Area Committee will ask other town and city area committees to also adopt this motion, calling on Councillors across the country to formally endorse the IPSC Campaign. 211 Councillor Ray McHugh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee That this Area Committee agree that a nameplate be placed on Dingles Field on the Crumlin Road in recognition of the history and former owners of the Field. 212 Councillor Catherine Ardagh s deferred Motion from the June Area Committee That this Area Committee requests the Area Manager to insert emergency CCTV cameras at John McCormack Avenue in Walkinstown, as there has been a continuous spate of car windows being smashed in on a weekly basis for the past 6 weeks. 224 Councillor Bríd Smith This Area Committee agrees to look at options for the future of the land/ space opposite Cedarbrook in Ballyfermot in order to implement changes that could help alleviate the problems and nuisances for residents emanating from the use of quad bikes on this space. Some suggestions were made to this Councillor in response to a query made and may be worth consideration of all Councillors and Representatives of the residents. 225 Councillor Pat Dunne This Area Committee acknowledges the need for the urgent provision of appropriate and substantial sporting facilities in the South West Inner City. We support the campaign by the Sporting Liberties Group to have the land adjacent to St. Catherine s Sports Centre on Marrowbone Lane developed by Dublin City Council as a multi-purpose sporting centre.
226 Councillor Greg Kelly That this Area Committee agrees that a maximum of 2 presentations before our Area Committee Meeting and that the presentations to be made between 2.30 and 3.30 so that we can have the full meeting for our agenda. 227 Councillor Bríd Smith Once again this Area Committee condemns the pollution afflicted on the residents of Ballyfermot because of the activities of Thorntons on Killeen Road. For more than ten years local people have been campaigning to end the anti social impact of Thorntons Recycling plant on the area. However, despite protests, petitions, complaints, meetings with Thorntons and the EPA on many occasions, this nuisance persists and is incredibly offensive during the summer months. Therefore this Area Committee will write a strong complaint on behalf of the residents of Ballyfermot to the following: - Thorntons Recycling, Killeen Road - EPA Enforcement Section - Minister for the Environment Such a letter must also request a full review of the licence issued to Thorntons Recycling on Killeen Road, given its proximity to a densely populated area. 228 Councillor Bríd Smith This Area Committee will write to Irish Water with a request that they commit to developing and enhancing the public space in Bulfin Estate, known as "The Pitch" after they complete using this space for the Liffey Siphons project. 229 Councillor Bríd Smith This Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to intervene with the Cafe management at Long Meadows Pitch and Putt on Sarsfield Road with a view to securing the re opening of the Cafe. This is a popular and very affordable public amenity and its closure is a loss to the community. Its closure is also affecting those who were working Community Employment Schemes in the Cafe and are now losing out on training as a result of the closure.
