Winter is upon us! We are almost done with our annual Membership drive and Visitor's Guide advertising updates. We are excited to make this Visitor's Guide the best yet! As always, we work very hard to distribute it throughout the state as well as to many prospective visitors who inquire through our website. We ran out of guides at the end of the 2017 season! A great indicator of its success! Thank you to all of the advertisers who participated. If you are interested in advertising this year, please contact us as soon as possible to get information. We still have spots open until November 9th and are always excited to promote our local businesses. If you haven t picked up the hottest ticket in town, be sure to contact the Library for their annual Cooper Landing Library Sweepstakes being held this Saturday, November 4th at 6 pm at Sunrise Inn & Café. It is great fun and a wonderful way to support our local library! Later on in the month is an opportunity to take care of some of your Christmas shopping at the Cooper Landing School Holiday Market on Saturday, November 19th. Scroll thru our newsletter to their flyer listing all the wonderful vendors that will be sharing their wares for you to purchase! Please note our next Cooper Landing Chamber Meeting is Friday, November 10th. Board members meet at 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Sunrise Inn & Cafe. Our general members meeting follows at noon. Lastly, We are actively recruiting new board members, if you are looking to get involved in promoting tourism and commerce to Cooper Landing, please contact any of our board members for more information. We meet monthly throughout the year and take a break for July and August. We would love to have some fresh minds for new ideas! Stephanie Lesmeister, President

Thanks The Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce Team Cooper Landing Library Other than trying to sell all the tickets to the Sweepstakes, it s been a quiet month at the library. Bar coding continues and Virginia is making great progress. Our Rasmuson Grant report is due the end of January and we hope to be close to being done with this by then. Ticket sales have been a little slower than in the past but we will have the unsold tickets available at the door November 4. Still $110 for a grand night of food and fun. Oh yes, and prizes!! We are still waiting for a commitment on the part of someone to take on the two months of Summer Reading. This is one hour a week with a volunteer librarian stepping up to cover check in and check out of materials. Library Hours for November: The Library will be closed November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving. Saturday hours will be reduce to 11-2 beginning November 1. Cooper Landing Historical Society Museum Everyone is invited to the annual Christmas Open House at the Cooper Landing Museum on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 to 4 pm. The wood stove will be warming the old post office/store and chairs for sitting and visiting will be nearby. We welcome donations of items to sell as well as baked goods for sale or to enjoy right then and there! We know this is an early invitation, but we want you to have time to put it on your Dec. calendar! If you would like to make donations I will be at the museum on Nov. 30 from 1 to 3 pm and will be glad to see you. We had a good summer with many visitors from 42 states and 11 foreign countries. I had to look up Montenegro! Our Dead Bear Walking tee and sweat shirts continue to be big sellers and will be available at the Christmas Open House. Skye High, Mayme Ohnemus and I attended the Kenai Peninsula Historical Association meeting Oct. 7 at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in Soldotna. We couldn t miss a chance to hear Al Hershberger and see his slide show about building the Sterling Highway. The paving was finished in the fall of 1958, but as Al says, they re still working on it! Our Oct. 14 general membership meeting went well. Appreciation was expressed for the revenue sharing money received through the CL Community Club a great help in paying our $2700 plus yearly museum insurance. Ron Gravenhorst took care of fire extinguisher maintenance. Ron was also a door prize winner as well as Barb Atkinson, Shirley Wilmoth, and Jacque Greenman. Fall pictures show Sportsman s Lodge 1992 after purchased by the state in Sept., Our Point of View Lodge that burned completely Nov. 19, 1976, and the fall flood near Mile 50 when the Snow River Pothole broke in1993.
