Detailed Itinerary Day 1- Arrive in North Cyprus, settle in the hotel Arrive Cyprus, transfer to the Riviera Beach Bungalows. If you arrive early, discover the beautiful town of Kyrenia. The old harbour is picturesque and you can take time to visit the castle and the old part of town behind the harbour with its narrow streets and coffee shops. Day 2- Explore more of Kyrenia and visit St. Hilarion Castle This is a day for exploring. If you didn t have a chance to visit Kyrenia on day 1, this is the time to do it. Or if you fancy castles, you can opt for a visit to the crusader s castle of St Hilarion, which is said to have inspired Walt Disney to create the magic castle in Disneyland. Day 3 - Visit the village of Kozan and have lunch in the mountains Drive west wards and visit the village of Kozan in the mountains with its monastery. You can also have lunch in one of the restaurant tucked away in the forest. Enjoy the smell of the pine trees and drive down back to your hotel in the evening. Day 4- Visit Lefke and the surrounding area: Visiting Lefke with it s small almost hidden mosque, St. Mamas church and the small but precious archaeological museum. Visit the excavations of Soli and high above the bay of Güzelyurt the ruins of Vouni Palace. The organic Farm expects you for the night. Day 5- Visit the last divided capital of Europe, Nicosia north and south Visit Nicosia town. Here you have the opportunity to see the north of city, with its main attractions: Buyuk Han, Selimiye Mosque, the hammam, small Han and the Bedesten. You can also cross the border on foot and see the south side of the city. Don t forget your passport. Drive eastwards to Famagusta and find Betul Guesthouse. Day 6 Visit Famagusta town and its surroundings Visit Famagusta town with its ruins and monuments. You can easily spend a day here roaming through history. Betul guesthouse offers (for free) 4 seater bikes and instead of walking you can cycle the town and have fun on your own or with your family. During February you will see the migratory flamingos. Day 7 Visit Salamis, St Barnabas church Early start driving from Famagusta to the Karpaz peninsula via Bogaz with its lovely harbour. On the way, you can visit the ruins of ancient Salamis with its theatre, Roman villa, basilicas. Salamis used to be one of the 10 city kingdoms of Cyprus. Or you can opt to visit Barnabas Monastery. Day 8 Visit AyiosPhilon church, Aphendrika monastery Visit AyiosPhilon church, Aphendrika monastery or the remains of the Byzantine basilica AyiasTrias in Sipahi. Or if you fancy some activities, weather permitting you can do some hiking, swimming, a donkey walk or visit the students who volunteer for the turtle project which is active in the summer from June until October. Day 9 Visit Buyukkonuk village or climb Kantara castle Stroll through the village of Buyukkonuk, maybe you are lucky and there is a market. Visit the old restored Oil Mill before you continue your tour. On the way towards Kyrenia, a visit to Kantara castle is optional. On a clear day you might be able to see Toros Mountains in Turkey. Make your way to Ambelia village in Bellapais. Day 10 Visit the charming village of Bellapais Morning time relax and enjoy Ambelia village with its magnificent views over the valley. In the afternoon and evening explore the charming village of Bellapais with its beautiful 12th century Lusignan abbey. Getting there By car and ferry By air Driving routes can be accessed via the following website: www.via.michelin.com. You drive to the south of Turkey and take a ferry from Mersin to Kyrenia. The nearest International airport is Ercan (flying via Turkey). Alternatively you can fly directly to Larnaca, but the transfer cost to your hotel becomes more expensiveif you fly via the south airport(s).
