IMPORTANT INFORMATION Hyden Swimming Pool Hyden Swimming Pool is an accredited Watch Around Water facility, meaning there are guidelines that must be followed while visiting: CHILDREN UNDER 5 - must be constantly supervised and remain within arms reach. If the child is in the water, the parent/guardian must be in the water too. CHILDREN UNDER 10 - must be accompanied into the facility and constantly supervised by a parent/guardian. The parent/guardian must have a clear view of the child at all times. Unsupervised children (of any age) will be removed from the water if the lifeguard is concerned for their safety. IMPORTANT FACTS The supervision of children in aquatic facilities is not the sole responsibility of lifeguards. Lifeguards are employed on a 1:100 ratio; this is based on the expectations that parents will provide direct supervision of children. Parents are required to provide the constant and direct supervision needed for young children. SHIRE HAPPENINGS IN HYDEN HYDEN TOWN SITE REVITALISATION PLAN This document was adopted by Council at its Ordinary Meeting held on the 17th December 2017 to provide a guiding conceptual plan to implement upgrades to the Hyden Town Site in the lead up to the Hyden Centenary in 2022. The document was widely advertised before being finalised by both the Shire and the Hyden CRC. The document can be viewed from the Shire s website www.kondinin.wa.gov.au under Council Council Documents Hyden Town Site Revitalisation Plan, or hard copies can be collected from the Hyden Shire Office. UPGRADES TO CORONATION PARK One of the key priority areas identified in the Hyden Town Site Revitalisation Plan was to upgrade Coronation Park. The Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 20th June 2018 endorsed that the upgrade to Coronation Park be the priority project during the 2018/2019 financial year and adopted a more detailed Landscaping Plan based on the design provided in the Hyden Town Site Revitalisation Plan and through input from local community members. The Shire has submitted a grant to Lotterywest to assist in the second stage of the delivery of the project including new shelters, seating, bins and BBQ, with the outcome of this likely to be received by the end of November 2018. The Shire has engaged Reality Landscapes to undertaken the preparatory work to the site including earthworks, pathways, planting new garden beds and reticulation which commenced on the 23rd October 2018 and shall extend through to mid November 2018. The Shire s works crew is working with Reality Landscapes to assist in this preparatory work and has installed a sump on the north-east corner of the Park. A copy of this plan be viewed from the Shire s website www.kondinin.wa.gov.au under Council Council Documents Upgrades to Coronation Park, or hard copies can be collected from the Hyden Shire Office. DRAINAGE DESIGN The Shire has engaged an engineer to undertake a detailed drainage design to inform works to be undertaken to improve drainage around the Hyden Town Site, prior to any major works being undertaken. You may have noticed some pegged areas around town which are the utility locations. PAINTING OF HYDEN HALL The Shire has engaged local painters, Hyden Painting Service to paint the internal and external walls of the Hyden Hall to give it a fresh new look. The painting works have commenced and are likely to be completed by the end of November 2018. During this period the hall will not be available for bookings. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. NEW DIRECTIONAL AND INFORMATION SIGN AT WAVE ROCK The Shire engaged Wayfound consultants who attended a site visit in August 2018 and have since prepared a Scoping Report with a list of recommendations to streamline the directional, informational and interpretive signage at Wave Rock. The new signage will be implemented in stages commencing with the design and installation of the directional and information signs within the Wave Rock Car Park, the Breakers Picnic Area and Hippos Yawn. ROAD UPGRADES The Shire s road work crew will be commencing re-seal works to the East Hyden Bin Road and the Hyden Norseman Road, as well as the Mt Walker Road on Tuesday 30th October 2018. DUAL USE PATHWAYS The Shire was successful in submitting an Expression of Interest to the Department of Transport for a shared pathway connecting the Hyden Town Centre to the bike path that extends from the Hyden Travel Stop to Wave Rock. With assistance from resident cyclist Cr Steve Jones and feedback from local businesses the Shire has now submitted a full grant application with the outcome likely to be received by January 2019.
