Kreklingbu Figure 1 You see the train station up to the left The cabin is about 500 meter from the Hallingskeid train station. It is the red cabin down in the valley that you can see from the train station. UTM coordinates Sone 32 4040 67267 (See also the attached emergency poster).
Figure 2Follow the Rallar road as marked in this picture and take left down to the cabin. The outer door is open. Behind the door, there is a key locker with the key to the cabin. You will get the code after reservation. Kreklingbu has 5 beds, all double size with pillow and wool blankets. It is recommended to use a liner during summer/early autumn and three season sleeping bag in the winter/late autumn. The cabin is not well isolated and the weather at Hallingskeid can be extreme. Always check the weather forecast before you leave! Kreklingbu has no electricity or water inside. You can find drinking water in the river just beside or by melting snow in the winter. There is a metal bucket to use for clean/drinking water (this bucket shall ONLY be used for clean water). There is also a big casserole with crane that you can use for heating water and melt snow and for storing clean water. The kitchen have what you need of equipment with gas stove and oven. Remember to set the gas container to ON before use, and OFF when you leave. If the gas container gets empty, there is an extra gas container in the hallway. Then you change the container and take the empty container with you back to Bergen so we can fill it up. For lighting, there is oil lamps. If they get empty for oil, you will find more lamp oil in the hallway. Read further down if you need help using them.
You will find a fire extinguisher in the hallway and a fire blanket in the kitchen. A bag with first aid is located near the kitchen. When you fire up the wood oven, it is easiest to fire it up with the upper valve all the way to the right (max air). There is newspaper for lighting. See attachments for more info! The toilet is outside, 20 meters from the door in almost the same direction (west). Payment: here is IBAN and BIC/SWIFT numbers, you can also pay at our Equipment room every Wednesday between 17:00 and 17:30. It is in the physics building. Go to our website bsifriluft.no for more info! IBAN: NO0836245020575 BIC/SWIFT: SPAVNOBBXXX kr 50 per night for members and kr 150 per night for non-members. When you leave: Take EVERY winebottle back to the train-station and throw it in the Garbage container. Please tell me if there is something missing or broken. Have a nice stay at the cabin. Burning Before you start to burn, please wash the door window if it is dirty and empty the ash. The easiest way to wash the door window is by dipping a piece of newspaper in some water and ash and then scrub it. Sometimes you need to open a window first to get a good draft before you light up, because of the cold air inside of the chimney (wintertime). The transport of wood is expensive, so please burn sparingly. We recommend using some kindling and place it like in this picture. The oven tends to use some time before it gets warm. The oven will get faster warm if you use a lot of kindling in the beginning. If you need, we also have fire starter and newspapers. Please do not use magazines! The fan on the top of the oven helps distribute the heat. If you need to move it, there is a black handle somewhere near the fireplace.
How to use the oil lamps: Burners, chimneys and glass globes can get extremely hot during use, so wait until the lamp cools before disassembling the parts to refuel it. With a hanging or wall-mounted lamp, you must remove the oil font -- the cylindrical container that holds the oil -- to refill it. To avoid oil spills, place the font on a level surface and pour in the oil slowly. Remember that an oilsoaked wick is ignitable, even after you've removed it from the lamp, so keep it away from flames and heat sources. Don't overfill the oil font, because you want just the oil-saturated wick to ignite, not the oil in the font. Fill the font approximately 3/4 full to avoid an unwanted fire when you light the wick. It's also important to keep the saturated wick level with the burner when you light it to avoid big, uncontrollable flames. Once you ignite the wick, lower it slightly to maintain an even, level flame. We recommend maintaining a flame approximately 3 cm above the burner.
How to use gas cooker: Remember to flip the regulator ON/OFF on top of the bottle! Gas burner: - To ignite a gas burner, press the corresponding knob and rotate to the maximum power position (large flame). Ignite a match and move it slowly towards the burner crown until the gas ignites. After ignition, keep the knob depressed for approximately 10 more seconds until the flame is stabilized. - Rotate the knop towards «0» to turn off the burner Gas oven: - Press the knob and rotate to the maximum power position just like above. At the same time, hold a lit match to the oven burner ignition opening (in the bottom) until the gas is ignited. When the flame settles, set the desired heating power. - After ignition, keep the knob depressed for 10 more seconds until the flame is stabilized. Change the gas bottle:
