Along the way we will anchor EOLO, for a peaceful lunch in the middle of nothing. The way is opened to reach the furthest corner of the North-Eastern part of the lagoon, where an inn is in use since the Venetian age (founded in 1632, the inn was built where the lagoon joins the river Piave, an important point where goods travelled to reach the city. In the same building there used to be both the customs and the inn. Day three B.L. VENICE On this morning, after the fishermen of the village have dropped off the bounty they have fished during the night, we will move towards Venice. We will stop for a visit to a private hunting and fishing area, where it's concentrate the knowledge about the fish farming of hundred years. During the navigation we will prepare lunch, creating a meal from what the lagoon offers us. Venice will begin to appear in the distance showing us the way of our voyage. On the way, near the island of Lazzareto Nuovo, we ll drop anchor and have lunch. A visit to the island allows us to understand the origins of some of the most characteristic masks of Venice. The masks were first made for medical reasons, to protect the face and nose, covered with cloths soaked in vinegar that helped ward off plague infections. This island served to decontaminate goods and sailors for a period of quarantine that was obligatory to avoid the spread of this dreaded disease. We will also find proof of inhabitants on this island much earlier than the Roman age! We will also have the opportunity to visit an organic wine producer who brought back some ancient vines a few years ago in this semi-salty soil. The wine they produce is reminiscent of the tastes and aromas of the lagoon all around us. At this point, Venice won t be far from us, and we ll be ending our trip in Sant'Andrea 4 7
