Together with seven others she hides in the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After more than two years in hiding they were discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. Gouda is known for its namesake cheese, seasonal cheese market and famous stroopwafel. Explore the daily market on the medieval Markt square. Anchoring the square is the 15th-century town hall, a Gothic building with red and white shutters. Also on the square is the 17th-century Goudse Waag, once a cheese-weighing station and now home to the Gouda Cheese Museum.
