Day 1 Arrive Bangkok Meet and greet at Bangkok Airport or Train Station by your English speaking licensed tour guide, transfer by air conditioned vehicle to your hotel for check-in and briefing on tomorrow's tour. Overnight: Bangkok Day 2 Bangkok Morning departure from your hotel on foot as you walk pass street vendors, blue and white color workers busily rushing to work and picking up some food for breakfast or lunch as they go. We will avoid the traffic by travelling by boat north to the old part of the city where you will begin touring the
historical palaces and temples. Originally built by King Rama I, the Grand Palace served as the royal residence until 1946, today the palace is still used on certain occasions for visiting royalty or special guests of the Kingdom. Adjoining the Grand Palace you will find the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Keo), this is probably the best known of the royal temples. It is regarded as the most important temple in all Thailand and it is the venue of many of the numerous religious ceremonies in which the King participates, especially at the beginning of each of the three seasons when His Majesty personally changes the elaborate robes of the Buddha image, carved out of a single piece of emerald-green jasper. Continue to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Po), the actual name of which is Wat Phra Jetupon, famous as the oldest and largest temple in Bangkok, with its precincts covering 80,000 square meters in all; the Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Trimmit), the home of a 5.5 ton Buddha image, found when the port of Bangkok was being expanded and dating back more than 200 years. You'll also get to sample some street food before taking the boat back to your hotel. Overnight: Bangkok Meals: Breakfast Day 3 Bangkok In the 17th century, most foreign visitors to Ayutthaya, traders or diplomats alike, claimed Ayutthaya to be the most illustrious and glittering city that they had ever visited. During this day trip you will visit many interesting ancient sites including Wat Phra Si Sanphet, in 1491 the temple was located inside the compound of the Grand Palace-the foundations of which are still visible-and served as the royal chapel, as Wat Phra Kaeo does in Bangkok. This Royal Palace was built by King U-Thong upon the founding of the city. In Ayutthaya s heyday, this was the largest temple in the city. Continue to Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon. Within the complex is a huge image of a reclining Buddha in brick and stucco. The chedi is bell- shaped and constructed on a mound of raised ground with steps going up to the Buddhist image placed midway to the top. The chedi itself now has a distinct tilt, but still can be entered via the stairs. After we visit Visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet. This is the most important temple within the Royal Palace compound and the original from which the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok has been copied. Three outstanding Ceylonese style pagodas were built during the 15th century to enshrine the ashes of three Ayutthayan kings. Our last stop before returning to Bangkok is to Bang-Pa-In, the former Royal Summer Residence, which represents a fine example of Thai architecture before taking a cruise on the Chao Phraya River back to Bangkok.
