CORRESPONDENCE: 7.1 Mrs. Daisy Bains. MacTier Community Policing Committee Re: Request for a Reduction in the Speed Limit/High Street JC District will not entertain a 4 way stop at High/North Streets or any where along District #11, as traffic volumes do not warrant this type of traffic control BH there is a safety concern with the visibility at this intersection depending on the type of vehicle driven GM - a stronger OPP presence would prove to be of benefit LK asked Mr. Corcoran to check with community policing to see if the OPP have stepped up their radar program Moved by Councillor B. Howe that the Public Works Committee of the Township of Georgian Bay recommend to Council that they support and endorse the items as noted herein from the petition requesting actions as a consequence of excessive speed on District Road 11 (High Street), MacTier. We would like to see more stop signs A 4-way stop at the corner of North and High Streets

Caution signs for "Children Playing" at each end of town Flashing yellow lights at each end of town X More of an OPP presence Seconded by Mr. D. Baker PW-4-97 7.2 Mr. Paul Lecoarer, Ministry of Transportation Re: Request for Transfer, Hwy 69 from Port Severn to Baxter/Gibson Boundary JC - confirmed that 2 km of service road from District Rii #34 to Baxter Lake is to be transferred to the Township Moved by Mayor M. A) Old Highway 69 from District Road 34 (Whites Fails Road) northerly lo Joe King Road B) Joe King Road from Old Highway 69 westerly to the end C) Baxter Lake Road from Joe King Road lo the end Seconded by Councillor B. Howe PW-5-97 7.3 Ontario Good Roads Association Re: Transportation Issues at OGRA's 1997 Annual Conference GM - asked Mr. Corcoran lo obtain information on marine/ferry service when he attends the annual conference 7.4 Mr. Ted Symons, Symons & Grise Re: Acquisition of Road Allowances Over Crown Land GM - good idea to phase in the transfer of title, beginning with the roads

most likely to become a problem JC Ihe first phase could include Silver Sands Lake Road and Bayview Road BM - confirmed that a policy in place would help to keep future council and staff moving on this issue X. ITRMS OF INFORMATION: 5.1 Mr. Brian McLauchlan, Director of Public Works, District of Muskoka Re: Extension of Contraci/Wasie Collection Tender JC behind with their tendering due to additional work load 5.2 Mr. Brian McLauchlan, Director of Public Works Re: Extension of Contract/Recycling Collection Tender "Noted and Tiled" 8.3 Walter & SCI Construction (Canada) Ltd. Re; Updated Construction Schedule "Noted and Tiled" 9. REPORTS: 9.1 Public Works Hourly Summary hy Activity MacTier Sidewalk Maintenance--IS hours-mr. Corcoran reported that the snowblower has been out on 22 separate occasions since the first snowfall, which is still in line with anticipated requirements 10. MOTIONS: None 11. NEW BUSINESS: 11.1 Snow Plowing Operations/Private Property Involvement JC provided a report indicating the need to phase out snowplowing operations involving private properties, in particular on Haig Street in MacTier, Go Home Lake at the end of District Rd #32 and Bass Bay Road u

* JC the Lions Club should be providing this service for their tenant at the end of Haig Street in order lo be consistent we need lo phase out this service in 1997 and advise them of the cost so that they can prepare for next year LK some cottagers at the north end of Go Home Lake are using the Galla Lake parking lol GM - there is not much point opening up a road where there is nowhere for people to park when they reach the end a solution must be found advise the Cottage Association and marina operator of our plans lo cease this service and ask them to work together to find a solution JC inquired whether a snowmobile trail could be constructed from Minors Bay to the Go Home Marina so cottagers could park at Minors Bay alternatively, the marina operator could take over winter maintenance al Go Home Lake Marina and charge for parking if so inclined 11.2 Port Severn Sewer & Water Proposed Service Connection Contract JC conduct a survey by circulating a notice to see who is interested in obtaining connection now and provide them with unit prices for estimates once this data is collected it could be put into a package for a contractor to take over at that stage MK - some will want to connect within the year, oihers will not be able to afford this JC Councillor Crombie feels strongly that extensions should not be allowed with respect lo the lime frame, and that connecting should be immediate and mandatory GM - suggested a time frame of 18 months starting in May be considered allowing for two construction seasons after the deadline, connection would be made and put on the properly owners lax bill, consistent and enforceable through a District by-law 11.3 Bear Lake/Service Road GM - has looked at the portion of District Road }? that is to be abandoned and confirmed that il could be used as a parking loi to discourage roadside parking for access to Bear Lake
