TOURISM MARKET A KEY RETAIL DRIVER Tourism is a key driver of the Gold Coast economy. Broadbeach attracts a significant proportion of stays and visits, with over 13 million * annual overnight and day trip visitors. Overall, Gold Coast Tourism contributes in excess of $5 billion * in visitor expenditure per annum (including retail, entertainment and accommodation expenditure). The redevelopment of The Oasis has been influenced by the burgeoning tourist spend that is available to be captured on a day to day basis. When considering the visitor market equates to a year-round equivalent daily population of approximately 75,200 * people, there is a substantial pool of unique visitors who are potential retail spenders to leverage. National tourism statistics show that overseas visitor numbers increased at an average annual rate of 7.5% * over the five years from December 2011 to December 2016.
