NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES - RUSSIA ENTERS THE WTO! As of August 22, 2012, the Russian Federation has entered the WTO. In the words of the Danish Minister for Trade and Investment, Pia Olsen Dyhr, this is a ground breaking development for the international community and for Russia. The WTO membership offers growth opportunities to increase exports. According to the minister, energy and environment, agriculture and food, healthcare, and shipping will be among the focus areas in the Danish Government s export strategy. The membership will increase the demand for Danish quality products in several industries. Currently, Russia is Denmark s 13 th largest export market. GREEN DENMARK GREEN FAIRYTALE The Royal Danish Embassy and The Royal Danish Consulate General in St. Petersburg are pleased to invite you to the event Fairytale. The event consist of several elements, all branding Denmark. Wild Swans-Decoupages by HM the Queen of Denmark Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess will open the exhibition of the Wild Swans -Decoupages by HM the Queen of Denmark and participate in a number of events throughout her visit. The exhibition is displayed at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg from October 8 to December 31. This is the very last stop on the world wide exhibition tour that included cities such as Beijing, Tokyo, and Rome. The Business Delegation As an extension of this visit, a business delegation will be led by the Danish Ambassador to Russia, Tom Risdahl Jensen, from October 8-9 2012. A number of promotional activities are scheduled for the visit, and offer unique opportunities for Danish companies to strengthen their profile with respect to both existing and potential partners in Russia. The business delegation is open to all Danish companies. Specific activities will take place within Energy & Environment and Food & Agriculture. We are convinced that these events represent a unique opportunity to brand Denmark as well as individual companies in the sphere of Energy & Environment and Agriculture; Fairytale. PROGRAMME ELEMENTS The Royal Danish Embassy and the Royal Danish Consulate General in St. Petersburg are arranging several events to create as much value as possible for our clients. Energy and Environment Breakfast meetings and four roundtable meetings on the topics of energy efficiency in the heating sector; water & waste; energy efficiency in buildings; and the finance of energy efficiency projects will be arranged, along with Energy & Environment project presentations and further networking opportunities. New Nordic food During the first week of the exhibition (October 8-14), Grand Hotel Europe will present Nordic Food through a special Danish menu. Grand Hotel Europe has invited a chef from Denmark, who in collaboration with the hotel s own chef will compose a special Danish menu that will be available in the hotel s restaurants throughout the week. Press Coverage Extensive press coverage on the 3 focus areas - Denmark as a Cultural, Gastronomic and Green Country - is expected. In this connection, the events will be covered by magazines newspapers and TV reporters. Opening of the Wild Swans - Decoupages Exhibition A ribbon cut ceremony and the opening of the exhibition, Wild Swans by HRH the Crown Princess will take place. This is celebrated with a reception at the Hermitage Green Denmark reception A reception is going to showcase Green Demark both in terms of the New-Nordic Food wave as well as Energy Efficiency. At this reception, HRH will hand over the Danish Export Associations Diploma and H.R.H. Prince Henrik s Medal of Honour.
