Route Overview 6,295 miles This route will begin at Jm Thorpe, PA thence traveling north through Pennsylvania and New York crossing the Canadian boarder in Ontario at Niagara Falls. West bound travel will mainly utilize the Trans-Canada Highway. Travel will be on a route above the Great Lakes with a planned layover in exploring the north shore on Lake Superior. Western travel will continue across the plains of Manitoba and Saskatchewan before heading into the Rocky mountains in Alberta. Northern progress through the Rockies will lead to Dawson Creek in British Columbia picking up the ALCAN Highway through the Yukon leading to the Alaska. A planned layover in Fairbanks, AK with preparations to continue along the Dalton Highway over the North Slope to Prudhoe Bay and return to Fairbanks. The southernly route will continue making way to Haines, AK for a planned layover then utilizing the Alaska Marine highway System ferry to Vancouver island, BC. The forest is mixed allowing for some shaded sties and some more open. The campground is close to Hwy 17. There are 60 sites, 20 of which are electrical. There is a comfort station with flush toilets, showers and laundry and a trailer dump and fill station. Agawa Bay Campground (reservations available) Latitude: 47.3357 Longitude: -84.615337 Located right on Lake Superior, on a 3 km beach. More than half of the campsites have a view of Lake Superior. Forest cover is primarily mature pine trees. The campground is adjacent to Hwy 17. There are 147 sites, 38 of which are electrical. Facilities include two comfort stations with flush toilets, showers and laundry and a trailer dump and fill station. There is an outdoor amphitheater and the Visitor Centre is a short walk from the campground. Crescent Lake Campground (first come, first served) Latitude: 47.276292 Longitude: -84.548239 Quiet, rustic campground on an inland lake with a small beach area. For visitors who want a more secluded camping experience ten sites are located on the west shore of Marie Louise Lake. There will be plenty of water as the route goes through the Lake of the Woods.
