Band Chatter Page 2 MINUTES OF THE March 2017 MEETING April 2017 By Cynthia Hadorn. The President, Robert Norberg, called the meeting of 23 members to order at 7:00 PM. Jan Donnell, Club Treasurer, reported that the club was in good standing financially and had received money from dues, raffle, and the sale of two hats. JC Carter made a motion to approve the minutes of last the meeting and a second by George Bruner. All voted in agreement. It was reported that Joyce Shierlow has been ill, and Cynthia Hadorn is recording the minutes in her place. John Anderson asked that anyone wishing to add to the Band Chatter would send the articles to him to be included each month. Randy Brown reported that there were no new inquiries via the web site. All expressed appreciation of the great job done by Randy. The president said that no one had signed up for tonight s program, so John Anderson kindly offered to do it. Also, no one signed up for refreshments so Robert and Juan stepped in to provide the snacks. Upcoming Events: March 25, 2017. Crawfish Boil and Car Show. It was followed by, Dragon Man which included the comments of the Dragon Man and visual tour of his extensive collection of cars and memorabilia of the 60 s. The motion to adjourn was made by George Bruner and seconded by Steve Hadorn. Respectively submitted by Cynthia Hadorn in Joyce Shierlow s absence.
Band Chatter Page 3 April 2017 Hello Tin Lizzies, We have all been schooled on hauling our model T s by Vic Donnell and his programs. Trailer type & size, hitches, weight distribution, tie down straps etc. were all covered. We were paying attention and learned a lot. Unfortunately not everyone is able to adhere to all that, due to the expense involved with acquiring the proper equipment. I have been transporting my depot hack on a borrowed open utility / farm trailer. I own an enclosed car trailer, but my car is too tall to fit in it. Hauling an old, tall, wood bodied car on an open trailer has its drawbacks. It is a big wind drag and catches more than its share of bugs, it s also hard on the wood finish. I do worry about it out there in the wind as I go down the road. I have finally decided to bite the bullet and replace my enclosed trailer with a new taller version. A local trailer manufacturer was found in Waco (thanks to Steve Hadorn) and ended up having the best price (especially after figuring transportation costs on trailers from other parts of the country). The base price was very enticing.but.i need a Heavy Duty trailer as I haul other things besides my model T, also I need to be able to haul my 1929 GMC 1-1/2 ton truck. So of course heavier axles, larger tires, HD Tongue,.010 thicker metal on the sides and on and on. By the time we got done with the order form the price had almost doubled. UGH! But at least I should never have to buy another trailer, as this will be a fits and do all in one unit.
