PolArt 2012 Newsletter Issue 2 6 th October 2011 Dear Friends of PolArt, Warm greetings to all our PolArt supporters. As we creep closer to the end of the year, the PolArt 2012 Perth committee continues to work eagerly and closely together to develop all the diverse aspects of our festival in order to create the magic of our PolArt tradition. The team has been fine tuning much of the details in the last month to do with venues, programming, sponsorships and fundraising activity. The festival will showcase a tradition of Polish folkloric dance, theatre, film, fine arts, literature and music at some of Perth s most prestigious venues such as the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Perth Cultural Centre and St. Mary s Cathedral. A series of social events are also being planned to bring together the Australian and Polish communities to celebrate Polish culture in Perth. Where we re at right now with PolArt 2012 Perth: Communication: We are proud to announce that the PolArt 2012 Perth official website in now launched - please visit us at www.polart2012.com.au. You will find all the information for the event on the website, including: festival programming, volunteer and member information, participant and sponsor information, news and much more. The website is going through continuous updates to make sure that the public is receiving the most and up-to-date information about the festival. PolArt 2012 Perth also continues to be very active on Facebook - the page has now been up and running for over eight months. The portal is continuously updated with its fan base growing daily. Fundraising and Sponsorship: PolArt 2012 Perth has now major confirmed sponsors that have offered their support for the event, they are: The University of Western Australia, The Blum Foundation and Cracovia Club. We have now officially received our first grants and a few applications are pending. The committee continues to strive to raise as many funds as possible for the festival therefore we have now appointed a professional Events fundraiser who will be overseeing all the fundraising activity from here on out. Currently all efforts are channelled into organising our first fundraising function more about this event in the next issue of the PolArt 2012 Perth Newsletter. Important Information for Participants: Applications for folkloric dance groups for PolArt 2012 Perth are now closed. The following Polish dance ensembles will perform at PolArt 2012 Perth: Kujawy (Sydney), Kukuleczka (Perth), Lajkonik (Sydney), Lublin (Wellington New Zealand), Lowicz (Melbourne), Oberek (Hobart), Obertas (Brisbane), Podhale (Sydney), Polonez (Melbourne), Promyk (Perth), Syrenka (Sydney), Tatry (Adelaide) Wawel (Wollongong), Wisła (Brisbane) in alphabetical order. We are still taking all expressions of interests from theatre groups and other artists interested in taking part in the festival. The Expression of Interest Form is available on the PolArt 2012 Perth website. All accommodation for the participants of the festival has now been booked and confirmed. The chosen accommodation is at one of Perth s biggest Universities which is only minutes away from Perth City centre. The following UWA Colleges will provide the accommodation for PolArt 2012 Perth participants: St. Catherine s College http://www.stcatherines.uwa.edu.au/ Trinity College http://www.trinity.wa.edu.au/ St. Thomas More College http://www.stmc.uwa.edu.au/ The participant-only events are being planned at the beginning and the end of the festival, therefore all participants are advised to arrive in Perth on December 27 and leave on January 06, please plan accordingly. We d like to bring to your kind attention that Perth s very own Polish Dance Group Kukuleczka and the Scena 98 Youth Group will have the honour to be the hosts of the PolArt festival for the very first time in history, please be part of this unique experience. Please also remember that the process of organizing PolArt is a huge undertaking. It is an event that requires a substantial amount of preparation time, effort and dedicated helping hands.
