NOTICE TO OPERATORS AE SERIES ENGINES NTO No.: AE 3007C-082 Issue No.: 2 Date: 15 September, 2010 TITLE: P2.5 Sensor Drift Valid until: Indefinitely ATA Area: 75-43-00 EFFECTIVITY: All AE 3007C Series Engines Purpose The purpose of this NTO is to inform operators of the P2.5 sensor drift (minor change in sensor calibration over time) on AE 3007C series engines. Investigation of the P2.5 sensor, also referred to as the compressorinlet-pressure sensor (Rolls-Royce part number 23055446 or 23075351), shows that negative drift of the sensor output may occur over time. A P2.5 sensor drift condition could lead to an un-commanded thrust reduction at altitudes above 30,000 ft. (9,144 m). Engine performance below 30,000 ft. (9,144 m) is not affected and experience has shown that descending below 30,000 ft. (9,144 m) will lead to full recovery of thrust. The sensor drift condition occurs over a period of 2 to 3 years; therefore the condition can be monitored and corrected. To make sure that the sensors continue to operate correctly, it will be necessary for the operators to send data at some intervals to Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce will make an analysis of the P2.5 sensor integrity. If the data that you send to Rolls-Royce shows that it is necessary to replace the P2.5 sensor, then Rolls-Royce will speak to you. CorporateCare Operators who have P2.5 sensors with known trend data as a part of their agreement will not have to do more procedures. Non-CorporateCare Operators will have only their P2.5 trend data analysis free-of-charge because of this NTO and an updated Chapter 5 requirement. The inspection of the P2.5 sensor has become a Chapter 5 Mandatory Inspection. FADAC software version C9.1 and subsequent revisions incorporate an on-ground check that negates the need to do this trending. C9.1 software is installed by Service Bulletins AE 3007C-73-049, AE 3007C-73-050 or AE 3007C-73-051. Compliance with these bulletins or subsequent Service Bulletins renders trending for P2.5 sensor drift unnecessary. Chapter 5 Mandatory Inspection Requirement Do the inspection of the compressor-inlet-pressure sensor (P2.5 sensor) Engine trend diagnostics download, until compliance with Service Bulletins AE 3007C-73-049, AE 3007C-73-050 or AE 3007C-73-051 or subsequent Service Bulletins. NOTICE TO OPERATORS AE SERIES ENGINES NTO No.: AE 3007C-082 Issue No.: 2 Date: 15 September, 2010 Action Labor required to accomplish this NTO, up to 1 hour, will be reimbursed by Rolls-Royce when accomplished at a Cessna Service Center facility. For CorporateCare Operators: P2.5 trending will be carried out using the engine trend data already provided to OSyS. All actions recommended from this trend monitoring will be communicated through your Rolls- Royce Regional Customer Manager (RCM). For Non-CorporateCare Operators: Rolls-Royce recommends the following for operating engines that do not have FADAC C9.1 or higher: 1. Do the first engine trend diagnostics download for the P2.5 sensor (Ref. Cessna Service Letter SL750-71-13). 2. Fill out the P2.5 Trend Monitoring Data Collection Sheet (Data Collection Sheet) (Ref. FIGURE 1). 3. E-mail the *.TND files and Data Collection Sheet to OSyS at CITXTrends@o-sys.com for processing. For assistance doing the engine trend download, please contact your Rolls-Royce RCM. If the data that you send to Rolls-Royce indicate that a sensor needs replacement, Rolls-Royce will contact you. All actions that are required will be communicated through your Rolls-Royce RCM. Note: The use of a customer generated Data Collection Sheet is acceptable if it includes all the information in FIGURE 1.
