Your 17-Day Journey Day 1 Depart for Oslo, Norway Enjoy your private car home pick up service. Guests departing from the Toronto airport are assisted with their check-in. Meet your Journey Manager and fellow guests, and board your flight to Oslo, Norway. Our Journey Manager travels with you to take care of all the details throughout the journey, enabling you to concentrate on your experience. Overnight flight Day 2 Oslo On arrival in Oslo, we board our private coach and transfer to our hotel. With its Louis XVI revival style and characteristic clock tower, the Grand Hotel Oslo is located right on Karl Johans gate, moments from the Royal Palace, Nobel Peace Building, the harbour, and the peaceful city parks. Enjoy a light welcome lunch before exploring this ancient city, founded in 1040, at leisure this afternoon. Join us this evening for dinner at the hotel. (L,D) Overnight Oslo, Grand Hotel Oslo, 2 nights Day 3 Touring Oslo Surrounded by mountains and sea, Oslo s high rises reveal a bustling metropolis boasting innovative architecture with pockets of quaint historic buildings and peaceful urban parks. This morning, enjoy a tour of this Scandinavian capital. We visit many of the highlights of Oslo including Frogner Park featuring works by sculptor Gustav Vigeland, the harbour area, and downtown Oslo. This afternoon is at your leisure. You may wish to visit the Fortress, Parliament buildings, the Cathedral, Munch Museum or City Hall with its lovely paintings. Day 4 Rail Journey to Bergen Today, we are in for a treat as we board the train and travel Over the Roof of Norway, to Bergen. On arrival in Bergen, we are introduced to this beautiful city by our local guide on a highlights tours before we board the MS Midnatsol, your home for the next eleven days. All meals will be served on board unless otherwise indicated. (B,D) Overnight Midnatsol, 11 nights Day 5 Ålesund Awaken to Norway s fresh sea air and wonderful picturesque views. We arrive in Ålesund this afternoon, a small fishing centre in the middle of Norway's popular tourist region between Bergen and Trondheim. Although its history dates back to the Viking period, the architecture throughout the city has an interesting art nouveau style. This is because the entire city was rebuilt after a massive fire in 1904. While it may have lost its historic look, you'll find it certainly didn't lose any of its charm. Included Private Excursion Exploring Ålesund, Fjellsyua and Waldehuset We disembark the ship and board our private train to explore Ålesund. We pass Arbeideren, the oldest community house of Ålesund, the old city hall, the marketplace and the prison. After visiting Borgundsvegen, the longest street in Ålesund, we climb towards Fjellsyua where we take in the beautiful views of the city, mountain and ocean. Before returning to the ship, we see Waldehuset, a house that miraculously avoided the flames in the 1904 city fire. Journeys by Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 2 of 12

Hurtigruten Tradition Kind of a waving tradition! When passing another Hurtigruten vessel, which will happen each day, it is tradition to be on deck with your blanket and wave it wildly at the passing vessel. Day 6 Trondheim Founded in 997 by the Viking Olav Trygvasson, Trondheim is steeped in history and culture. After our excursion, we depart Trondheim and if the weather is good, we pass through the scenic and very narrow sound of Stokksund. Don t forget to submit your guess on the time when we ll cross the Arctic Circle tomorrow morning! Included Private Excursion Experiencing Trondheim Today, we see the remarkable music history at the Ringve Museum, where our guides are local music students who also play for us. Our local city guide then takes us to see Norway s largest medieval church, Nidaros Cathedral, the site of the coronation of the kings of Norway and the home of the crown jewels. Hurtigruten Tradition Arctic Circle Competition Sometime tomorrow morning, the Midnatsol will cross the Arctic Circle. Participate in the ship-wide competition by placing a guess of what time that will happen. Talk to your Journey Manager for more information about registering for your chance to win a prize. Day 7 Crossing the Arctic Circle This morning, we cross over the Arctic Circle and celebrate with a special ceremony where the winner of the Arctic Circle Competition is announced. After lunch, we call on Bodø, where you can enjoy some free time to explore. You may decide to visit the fantastic aviation museum on your own or walk to the town centre. Later this afternoon, we may see the majestic Lofoten wall which stretches from Moskenes in the south to the Raftsund in the north, a distance of one hundred kilometres! This evening we arrive in the quaint fishing village of Svolvær. During your free time here, you may choose to visit a private collection of memorabilia at the War Museum, or Ice Magic which displays different scenes of Norway in ice sculptures. Enjoy a drink served in a glass made of ice. Skål! Day 8 Tromsø On departing Harstad this morning, watch for the 13 th -century Trondenes Church, the northernmost medieval church in Norway. Tromsø is affectionately known as the capital of the Arctic and is a lively, humorous and beautiful city packed with culture and history. Surrounded by majestic mountains, scenic fjords and picturesque islands, Tromsø's many attractions offer history, daring architecture, wildlife, science, culture and impressive vistas. Included Private Excursion Tromsø, the Arctic Cathedral and Cable Car Our local guide greets us and entertains us with local folklore as we venture off to explore this fascinating university city affectionately called The Paris of the North. Day 9 Barents Sea & North Cape Today, we sail the Barents Sea and travel through the Finnmark region, sailing past many small fishing villages both old and active. Journeys by Van Dyke Cambridge Ontario Canada Page 3 of 12

Included Private Excursion North Cape and the Sami People We go ashore on the island of Magerøya and take a journey far to the north to visit the North Cape. Here, you have time to explore the North Cape Pavilion and view the 125 panorama film showing the landscape around the North Cape through the four seasons. You may even want to become members of The Royal North Cape Club! We continue out into the wilds of northern Norway for a visit with the local Sami peoples. The Sami have been residents in northern Scandinavia for generations and have traditionally been reindeer herders. We then rejoin our ship in Honningsvåg. Day 10 Kirkenes Our ship arrives in Kirkenes today. Here we are further north than any part of mainland Canada or the tip of Siberia! Enjoy your free time to explore this remote northern community. You may choose to take an optional excursion to the Russian border or walk into this interesting town. We depart Kirkenes to begin our southbound voyage, visiting the ports in daylight that we previously called on during the night. Included Private Excursion Lofoten and the Lofoten Aquarium This is an evening to remember and includes a visit to the Lofoten Aquarium. Day 13 Day at Sea: The Arctic Circle Early this morning, we cross the Arctic Circle, and around lunchtime we call on Sandnessjøen. This is a lovely town for an early afternoon stroll. MS Midnatsol The name Midnatsol (Midnight Sun) is something to live up to, and this ship, dedicated to the Arctic summer, does just that. The ship has a strong environmental profile and modern design, with Norwegian materials used extensively throughout its interiors. Additionally, the bright, colourful décor is inspired by Norway s sunny warm days of summer, a motif reflected in many of the pieces of Norwegian modern art on board. One of the key features on MS Midnatsol is the large, two-storey Panorama Lounge over the bow, with wall-to-wall windows that bathe the room in natural light and provide extraordinary views. Interesting lectures, presentations and activities inside the ship, as well as out on the sun deck, make this an exciting and educational journey. Topics vary depending on the season and waters we sail in. The Expedition Team hosts a lecture and presentations program, as well as evening gatherings daily. Out on deck you may participate in live points of interest to learn more about the nature, culture and other phenomena we encounter along the coast. In addition, the Expedition Team will introduce you to the uniquely Norwegian notion of friluftsliv (outdoor life). The dedicated Expedition Team has one mission: to enhance your experience by engaging you and interpreting the nature, wildlife, and culture you encounter during the voyage.
