Dams Porto Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal, located along the Douro River estuary in Northern Portugal. One of the oldest European centres, its historical core was proclaimed a world Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. The city is also blessed with a wealth of long, clean and sandy beaches. Guimarães Considered the Birthplace of Portugal, its historical town centre is listed as UNESCO World Heritage since 2001, in recognition for being an exceptionally well preserved and authentic example of the evolution of a mediaeval settlement into a modern town in Europe. Its pedestrianised area is a web of gently cobbled streets and alleyways with tiny restaurants and cute bars. Régua This peaceful town located in the northern of Portugal, backed by the mountains of Serra do Marão and overlooking the wide valley of the Douro River, is the official centre of the Port Wine growing region. Barrels of Wine were traditionally transported to Vila Nova de Gaia using wooden ships called Rabelos. Mateus Palace Designed by the architect Nicolau Nasoni and built in the 18th century, this is a master piece of the baroque style. Enjoy walking in the sculpted gardens or take your time to contemplate its façade. The dams that over the years were built on the Douro River are part of the Douro s experience. Along the river you will pass through the dams of Crestuma/Lever, Carrapatelo, Bagaúste, Valeira and Pocinho. Of special note is the dam of Carrapatelo one of the largest in Europe, with a 35m water level difference. Salamanca In the north western Spain it s known for its ornate sandstone architecture and its oldest western University, was declared UNESCO World Heritage. Visit this city and enjoy its great history and culture. Vila Nova de Gaia Located along the Douro River Estuary, Gaia is a Hub of the Port Wine Industry, peppered with cellars offering tours and tastings. Known for its diverse natural landscape with an extensive coastline with large sandy beaches to scenic riverside road, with its café terraces and expansive views across the Douro. Lamego Its origin dates back to Roman times. It was reconquered from the Moors in 1057. Lamego takes a special place in History for its artistic heritage and natural beauty. Here one should visit the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Sanctuary and its impressive staircase. Pinhão Encircled by terraced hillsides that produce some of the world s best port - and some stellar table wines - pretty little Pinhão sits on a particularly lovely bend of the Douro River. Wineries and their competing signs dominate the scene. Even the delightful train station has handpainted tiles depicting the grape harvest. Porto Wine Quintas The estates which produce the grapes to make Port wine are known as Quintas. The stunning grounds of the many terraced Quintas where it s possible to taste the extraordinary Port wine, are one of the most expected highlights of a Douro Valley journey. Castelo Rodrigo It is well known for the beautiful natural surroundings as well as its well preserved historical monuments. Walk along the streets and enjoy the charm of this mediaeval walled village s atmosphere. Barca d Alva Surrounded by mountains, and on a placid bend in the Douro River, it s a curious spot-on. On the one hand, there s a long-abandoned railway line and a row of elderly cottages; on the other, there s a sparkling quayside with huge pontoons to accommodate the large Douro cruisers which disgorge passengers for a souvenir hunt.

A. reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change any trip or itinerary for any reason, including but not restricted to: charter of the ship, insufficient number of reservations, weather conditions, mechanical problems, medical emergency, strike or suspension of work on the local, local holidays, locks breakdown and other reasons, without penalty for DouroAzul, S.A. Prices Prices included in this brochure are correct at the time of its printing. Prices may be changed if the conditions are justified, namely by unexpected rise of government charges, taxes or fuel surcharges, as well as the change of any external costs beyond the control of DouroAzul, S. Complains and Refunds Complaint and refund requests will only be considered when submitted in writing by the complainant to DouroAzul, S. A. within 5 days after the end of the service. All legal claims will be solved in the Porto s Court Jurisdiction, and not on any other court. Reservations and Cancellations Reservations of any cruise shall be done in writing, when possible. Reservations will only be considered valid only after receiving 20% of the total price of the cruise. Charter reservations and some special programs should be confirmed in advance, with payment of 30% of the total amount at the moment of reservation; 50% of the total amount up to 60 days before departure date and the remaining 20% paid until 20 days prior to departure date. Reservations should be directly made with DouroAzul, S. A. or through one of its distribution companies, travel agents, wholesalers or recognized travel operators. After booking, the following costs will be applied in case of cancellation of the reservation: - 20% of initial deposit not reimbursable; - cancellations before 15 days before departure: 75% of the reservation; - cancellations with less than 14 days to the departure: 100% of the reservation; Brochure The content of the brochure may have inexact expressions, typed mistakes or omissions.
