BDSF SPECIAL FREIGHTER CONVERSION

Transcription:

In Chinese mythology the Lung Wang are the four Dragon Lords of the four seas; north, south, east and west. Over the past twenty years, both the People s Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan) have made major improvements to their fleets. It appears that the Lung Wang have awakened. The 400nm air range of the PRC is enough to make the neighbors of the People s Republic uncomfortable. Taiwan and the South China Sea are definitely with the sphere of influence of the PRC. The geo-political landscape has changed. Neighboring nations now have to deal with the reality of the PLAN presence. They will work to retain their independence while not losing any good relations they have with the west; or irritating the PRC. This expansion module of Surface Battle Group v3.0 has been created for you to explore the possibilities of armed conflict in this theater. A very dangerous conflict involves the USN. Five game scenarios have been included. Included in this work are 35 PRC ship forms for submarines, destroyers, frigates, patrol craft and large landing ships. The PRC air arm is represented with 8 aircraft with over 2 dozen load configurations. There are also 10 ship forms and 7 aircraft in 15 load configurations for the ROCN. The Nimitz class CVN, the Virginia class SSN and the F-18E/F are included as well. All are useful in the scenarios included herein. But feel free to create your own scenarios. Also included are the weapons tables needed for the PLAN and ROCN fleets. You must have a copy of the Surface Battle Group v3.0 core rules in order to use this expansion. In the process of digging up the data to create this expansion, I found plenty of photographs of ships listed in this work on the web. Simply enter Taiwanese Navy ships, Chinese Navy ships, Russian Navy ships and just about any of the USN ship classes to find downloadable photos. Just print them on cardstock. Credit for inspiring this work belongs to Dr. Ed Coss of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He steered me to the book 7 Deadly Scenarios by Andrew F. Krepinevich, in particular, situation #5, The Assassin s Mace. Credit for the cover art belongs to Christopher Jones; as always, spectacular work. Now more than ever, today s headline can be tonight s game! Enjoy! T. Dziegielewski Copyright protection claimed under provisions of international copyright law, September24, 2010. 1
