Day 1: Hobart Morning arrival into Hobart Visit MONA and experience their latest exhibition Lunch at MONA, sample the boutique brewery Moo Brew and sample Moorilla s premium wines at their cellar door In the afternoon return to the city and waterfront and check out your dining options for tonight Overnight: Your choice of Innkeepers Discovery Inns in Hobart Local Tip: Take the MONA ROMA Ferry from waterfront or for a novel way to arrive consider a stunning seaplane trip over the city and land in style at MONA. Opinions vary about MONA some are shocked, others simply amazed at one person s incredible art collection from around the world and perhaps above all the awesome museum, boutique brewery, winery and fantastic cuisine offered in the Source Restaurant a complex to be enjoyed, and certainly not rushed.
Day 2: Peppermint Bay Cruise An early start should allow a visit to the top of Mount Wellington before returning to the waterfront by 10:30 for an 11am departure down the Derwent Estuary aboard the luxury 23 metre Peppermint Bay II. Enjoy a stunning 3 course luncheon at Peppermint Bay before returning to city by 4pm Enjoy an ale or crisp Tassie white at any of the nearby waterfront hotels Overnight: Your choice of Innkeepers Discovery Inns in Hobart Local Tip 1: Meet the locals at Customs House Hotel opposite the ferry terminal, or sip the increasingly famous Lark Whisky at their distillery only a short walk away. Another local and well known watering hole is Shipwrights Arms in historic Battery Point no visit to Hobart is complete until you ve enjoyed a drink at Shippies. Lots of restaurant options in this area too! Local Tip 2: If you re looking for the best in fresh local produce visit Elizabeth Street Food and Wine in North Hobart the absolute best in everything Tassie food, beer, wine all right there! Day 3: Huon Valley Leaving Hobart head south via Huonville to Geeveston and onward to Tahune Airwalk an amazing tree top walk through the canopy of some of the tallest native forest stunning views await and the rest of your day will easily be filled with farm gate visits, local wineries this region is particularly well known for premium quality pinot noir Return to Port Huon for overnight at The Kermandie built in 1932 to cater for the local orchardists, timber and river workers a great country pub with contemporary local cuisine offered in Sass Restaurant Overnight: The Kermandie, Port Huon Hastings Caves is also nearby and worth a visit Photo: Tourism Tasmania & Kathryn Leahy
Day 4: Port Huon to Port Arthur Leaving the Huon Valley travel back through Hobart and head to the historic village of Richmond, walk across Australia s oldest convict built bridge then continue your journey to the Tasman Peninsula. Get up close and personal with the Tasmanian Devil at the Devil Park in Taranna only 10 minutes from Port Arthur We recommend the all inclusive Gold Pass and as an option the evening Ghost Tour as well if you re game! Day 5: Tasman Peninsula or return to Hobart We consider this an optional day choose to spend more time discovering the stunning Tasman Peninsula explore the historic site, visit the nearby Coal mines Heritage listed convict site, enjoy a breathtaking Tasman Island Cruise or enjoy many of the short walks around the coastline. Day 6: Depart Hobart No matter what time you re leaving to return home make your last stop at Barilla Bay Oyster Farm located at the northern end of Hobart Airport on the Tasman Highway they have a range of travel ready packs available for you to carry home if you can wait!
