Generally towns further away have cheaper rates as Toms River is a Jersey Shore town and this event is still in season. Note: I happened to be on the website for the Lakewood BlueClaws (Phillies Class A affiliate) and noticed an icon for Best Western Hotels on their Schedule home dates. I tried the link and quite a few hotels within a half-hour to an hour away came up with availability and rates that are significantly cheaper ($68 to $120/room) than most of the below listed and especially the Shore hotels. You might want to try these first if you do not mind not being right in Toms River.
