A JUMP IN THE HISTORY AND IN THE PROTECTED NATURE: SERMONETA AND THE OASIS OF NINFA Covering about 7 km of road surrounded by olive trees and interspersed with views of the plain, from the state road you get to Sermoneta, surrounded by protective walls and semi-cylindrical towers. Startiong from the central Piazza del Popolo, you con immediately admire the facade of a fifteenth-century house. From here, taking Via S. Maria, you can to the Cathedral with the beautiful 5-storey bell tower of mullioned windows. A visit to the Castello Caetani, dating back to the 12th century and one of the best preserved in Lazio is a must. The Church of the Annunciation, the medieval village located at the foot of the Castle an the Church of San Francesco, about 1 village, are also of great interest. Last stop of the route is the oasis of Ninfa, an abandoned medieval center, located at the foot of a spur of diving, near springs that form a pretty pond.
