With over 55 members and guests we had a great crowd and an enjoyable evening. The food and service at the Old Spaghetti Factory was great and made our evening fun filled and satisfying for the largest appetite. This is a unique location for our type of event. I plan to make reservations here for December 5 th, 2019 so mark your own calendars. During the evening we showed many pictures of our events during the 2018. Following dinner, I did my usual recap of the more notable events of 2018. Of course there was lots of fun and even some truth to the stories surrounding some of the slides. We even refreshed everyone s memory on club events or 2008 & 1998. I hope everyone that attended enjoyed the evening as much as I did. We filled the room again this year. Our room layout was not as good as it could have been. We like to encourage pre-dinner socializing amongst all the tables. However the narrow aisles prevented this for too many seats. We will consider returning to our lay of a few years back that seemed to have more room to move around.

The Bilge Pump December 2018 2 I think the evening was very enjoyable and rewarding for all the club members and guests. This year s Member of the Year went to Bill Heath. Bill is a very active member and can always be counted on for support of our club events. Congratulations Bill and thank you very much. Tom Stevens was the winner for the most Show n Tell events for the year. Tom was a runner up last year, but took first place this year and received a $100 Galaxy Hobby gift certificate Thanks Tom and all the members that participated in the meeting Show n Tell events. These are the most important part of our meetings and we hope we can have even more contributions in 2019. 2018 was a very successful year with a high level of participation from our members. Getting 6 new members during the year was great. The enthusiasm and club support of many of these new members is great to see as it is important to get new members involved in our events. Our officer group has been a big help in keeping things on track during the year. Amos Aarsvold is stepping aside after two years as our Newsletter Editor. Amos has brought a fresh look to our newsletter and we appreciated the great job he has done for his tenure. Thanks Amos for a job well done. Bryan Morse, Paul Williams have done an excellent job during the year in their roles as Vice President and Treasurer/Membership tasks. Both have agreed to continue in leadership roles. Paul will assume the Newsletter Editor role and Bryan will pick up Paul s membership duties. Dave White has accepted the role as Treasurer previously done Paul Williams. A new officer this year is Ron Bray who will serve as our Vice President. We all extend our appreciation to this group in their new roles. Serving as an officer takes an extra commitment to club membership. Serving in this role is very important to the current and future success of our club. And finally, I would like thank everyone in the club for their great support during this past year. Without each of your efforts and support of our club activities and events we would not have had the successful year that we enjoyed during 2018 Next month I will be talking more about 2019 and laying our plans for having and even more successful year. I want to wish each of you and your families a wonderful Christmas Season and a very Happy New Year. And now some photos of our 2018 Christmas Dinner

The Bilge Pump December 2018 4 November 2 nd Fun Float Rex Olsen Photos by Robert Osmond It was spitting rain on the morning of our November fun float. But being the intrepid north westerners we are, we cast a steely eye to the heavens, shrugged, said so what - - and got under cover as soon as we could. We sampled Mel s hot coffee, had a donut, waited, and then agreed the rain wasn t so bad - and probably wasn t going to get better. Steve Sunich was first in the water with his Stallworth, quickly followed by Robert & Richard. Soon almost everyone was in, being careful to mind the rain-slick dock steps. Brian Morse brought his South Hampton and Robert Osmond ran his South Hampton. Mel came a bit late but caught up with his Maverick. Rex Olsen brought the S. Milford blue-water tug with new propulsion and control systems The Seattle Yacht Club s covered area is a great place to operate and observe. It is also a good place to coordinate a mass dock push, except for one fellow (the writer) who seemed to have his boat completely turned around, apparently not understanding fore from aft. Attendance was light, due to the weather, but we had a good time. No boats sank or were lost. No major mishaps were reported. We packed up after a couple of hours of fun, happy that the Huskies game was scheduled for that evening.

The Bilge Pump December 2018 6 January Meeting Auction Our January meeting will be at our normal venue, Galaxy Hobby. Our agenda will be typical for getting the new year off to a good start. What will be unusal is we will have a no minimum auction of a 36 Shelly Foss tug donated to the club by Paul Marlow of the Center for Wooden Boats. Paul needs to clear some space and would like to see his Shelly go to a good home. While it needs some TLC and finish work, it is an exclellant basic model powered by larger Pitman motors, steerable kort nozzels and dual speed controls. Paul reccommends the radio system be upgarded to a 2.4 Ghz version. Very little work is needed to get this on the water and start having Too Much Fun. This will be auctioned off at the January meeting with no reserve. You must be present to bid and be prepared to take it home. 2019 DUES ARE DUE IN JANUARY 2019 member dues are due during January. Annual dues are $30. If you have not paid yet, please forward your dues payment to Bryan Morse, 13530 Linden Avenue N.
