Munich, the capital of Bavaria, has a history that spans back more than 850 years. The Altstadt is the heart of the city where you will see people sitting outside, in every square, drinking, eating, and enjoying life. In addition to its historic city center, Munich is home to several world-class museums and more modern wonders such as the BMW Museum and the Allianz Arena. Late Afternoon After proceeding through immigration and customs, collect your luggage and meet your local Tour Escorts. Load the coaches and transfer into the city center. DAY THREE: Friday, June 7, 2019 MUNICH (B,L,D) Performance After breakfast, load the coaches and depart via the scenic German countryside for a visit to the extravagant Neuschwanstein Castle. Neuschwanstein Castle was built in the 1860s by King Ludwig II, the strange, self-obsessed monarch who has become one of the legendary figures in Bavarian history. Many believe that Neuschwanstein inspired the castles at the various Disney Parks around the world. Afternoon Late Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout. Following lunch, coach back to Munich. Transfer to this evening s performance venue possibly the modern Herz-Jesu-Kirche (TBC). Rehearsal at the concert venue. Dinner as a group nearby (vegetarian). PERFORMANCE at Herz-Jesu-Kirche (TBC) this concert may be shared with a local band or ensemble. The Herz-Jesu-Kirche was built between 1997-2000 according to the plans of the Munich architectural office Allmann Sattler Wappner. The modern building soon became one of the most visited churches in Munich. The original church was consecrated as the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 1940, a new organ was installed and on July 20 1944, the church burned down almost completely in an Allied bombing raid. After the concert, enjoy social time with the local group (TBC) then return to the hotel. DAY FOUR: Saturday, June 8, 2019 MUNICH SALZBURG (B,L,D) After breakfast, check-out of the hotel, load the coaches, and depart for Bogenhofen College, located in St. Peter am Hart, Austria (~2-hour drive). PERFORMANCE at morning services at Bogenhofen College (TBC). Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout. PERFORMANCE for the community at Bogenhofen College (TBC). Afterwards, enjoy social time to interact with the local Seventh Day Adventist Community. Dinner as a group (vegetarian) at a nearby restaurant (or possibly at the school). After dinner, load the coaches, and continue onto Salzburg. Framed by mountains, crowned by the Hohensalzburg Fortress and divided by the turquoise Salzach River, the Salzburg landscape is pure drama. Salzburg has been an endless source of inspiration to the prince-archbishops who created its mighty baroque churches and palatial Residenz and to famous son Mozart, whose symphonies regularly headline the Salzburg Festival. Upon arrival into Salzburg, check-in to a 3-star hotel and retire for the evening.
DAY FIVE: Sunday, June 9, 2019 SALZBURG (B,L,D) Performance After breakfast, enjoy a Guided Walking Tour of Salzburg. This walking tour will include such sights as the Cathedral, St. Peter s Abbey, Mirabell Gardens, and the Getreidegasse where the charm is generated by the high, narrow houses tightly nestled together, the wrought iron guild signs, and the romantic passageways. Conclude your tour with a visit to Mozart s Birthplace. Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout. Late Afternoon Transfer to the Republic Theater in central Salzburg (TBC). Rehearsal at the concert venue. Dinner as a group (vegetarian) at a nearby restaurant. PERFORMANCE at the Republic Theater (TBC) this concert may be shared with a local band or ensemble. Emerging from the Stadtkino (city cinema), the republic was adapted in 2001 to serve as a new "event venue. " "State of the arts - republic" stands for deprovincialization and exterritorialy: a place of disconformity, without boundaries, open for art, culture and communications. Centrally located in Salzburg's Old City, the Republic can accommodate up to 700 visitors. A telescopic stage meeting a variety of requirements, e.g. cabaret, readings, music performance, theater and dance, celebrations as well as exhibitions, attracts responsive audiences. After the concert, enjoy social time with the local group (TBC) then return to the hotel. DAY SIX: Monday, June 10, 2019 SALZBURG VIENNA (B,L,D) After breakfast, check-out of the hotel, load the coaches, and depart for a visit to the majestic Hohensalzburg fortress which offers beautiful views across the city. Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout. After lunch, depart for Vienna. A whirl of gilded Hapsburg palaces and regal parks on the banks of the blue Danube, Vienna is a fine romance of a city. Tradition and innovation walk hand in hand: Strauss waltzes are still hip to 20-something ball-goers and even the imperial stables have been born again as the surprising and vibrant Museum Quarter. Late Afternoon Before entering the city center, make a stop at the Vienna Central Cemetery where you will see the tombs and memorials of famous composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, the Strauss family and Brahms. Transfer to local 3-star hotel check-in to the hotel and settle into your rooms. Dinner as a group (vegetarian) in Vienna. After dinner, return to the hotel.
DAY SEVEN: Tuesday, June 11, 2019 VIENNA (B,L,D) Sectional Masterclasses Following breakfast, enjoy a Guided Tour of Vienna which will take you past such important sights as the Parliament, City Hall, Hofburg Palace and the Cathedral. Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout. After lunch, load the coaches and transfer to a local rehearsal venue (TBC). Enjoy sectional masterclasses (Woodwinds / Brass / Percussion) with three (3) members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (TBC). After the sectionals, enjoy a visit to the House of Music (Haus der Musik). This relatively new museum is a special museum, in that it attributes great value to interactive learning experience. It covers the history of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the history of Vienna as a center of music making (Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Mahler, Schubert and others are documented). In addition there are the more experimental sections of futuristic composition (The Brain Opera) and sound experiences. Dinner on your own in the area. After dinner, return to the hotel.
DAY EIGHT: Wednesday, June 12, 2019 VIENNA (B,L,D) Performance Load the coaches (with instruments and performance attire) and depart for a guided visit of the Schönbrunn Palace. The 1,441-room Schönbrunn Palace was designed for the Habsburgs by those masters of the baroque, the von Erlachs. It was built between 1696 and 1712 at the request of Emperor Leopold I for his son, Joseph I. When Maria Theresa became empress, she changed the original plans and Schönbrunn looks today much as she conceived it. Done in "Maria Theresa ochre," with delicate rococo touches designed for her by Austrian Nikolaus Pacassi, the palace is in complete contrast to the forbidding Hofburg. Afternoon Late Afternoon Lunch with a EUR10 cash handout followed by some time to explore in chaperone groups. Transfer to this evening s performance venue possibly the Votivkirche (TBC). Rehearsal at the concert venue. Farewell Dinner as a group (vegetarian) at a nearby restaurant. PERFORMANCE at the Votivkirche (TBC) this concert may be shared with a local band or ensemble. The Votivkirche is a neo-gothic church located on the Ringstraße in Vienna, Austria. Following the attempted assassination of Emperor Franz Joseph in 1853, the Emperor's brother Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian inaugurated a campaign to create a church to thank God for saving the Emperor's life. Funds for construction were solicited from throughout the Empire. The church was dedicated in 1879 on the silver anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Empress Elisabeth. After the concert, enjoy social time with the local group (TBC) then return to the hotel.
