FROM BANGKOK FROM BANGKOK (for participants from Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia) Participants coming from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, are advice to take a land transport (bus/train) or air flight to Bangkok. Below is a best route to UUM from Bangkok. OPTION 1: BY TRAIN (Bangkok to Hatyai OR Bangkok to Arau) Bangkok s Hualamphong Train station Hatyai Train Station Sadao / Dannok Immigration Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex Take an Overnight Train on Thai Railways Southern Train Line from Bangkok's Hualamphong Train Station to Hat Yai Train Station. Hat Yai is the 'Southern Hub' for all trains going into Malaysia. Trains go via Surat Thani, Chumphon, Hua Hin etc. Special Express fare range from THB339 THB1394 depending on the class.

When you arrive at Hat Yai Station in the morning, there are restaurants and food vendors in all of the streets surrounding the station. The Hat Yai Train Station is centrally located for convenient transfer to Bus or Minivan Service. There are many Travel Agencies near the station, including one right across the street. From Hat Yai Train Station you simply walk into a nearby travel agency and buy a ticket for the next bus or minivan Service going to Dannok (Thailand) / Bukit Kayu Hitam (Malaysia) Border Crossing. Taxi fare is from THB700 per taxi and from THB55 per person by minivan. The Malaysian Immigration at Bukit Kayu Hitam and Thailand, Sadao immigration (although it is at the border town of Danok) is opened from 6.00 am to 12.00 midnight. Thai immigration formalities (which is officially called the Sadao Immigration Checkpoint) used to be conducted at Sadao town but has since moved to Dannok just before the border gate into Malaysia. The town on the Malaysian side is Bukit Kayu Hitam. Note that the distance between the Thailand Immigration (Dannok town) and Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex checkpoints is about 700 meter, quite distance to walk. Otherwise, you can take a motorcycle or taxi between them. The Secretariat of ICMS 2018 will provide free pick-up service at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex. OPTION 2 Bangkok s Hualamphong Train station Arau Railway Station The International Express Train 35 (Now Train 31 from Bangkok to Hat Yai) is a daily overnight sleeper train that travels from Bangkok, Thailand to Butterworth Penang in Malaysia, travelling down through Eastern coastline along the Gulf of Thailand before following the central Southern Thailand and town of Arau (Malaysia), all the way down to Penang, Malaysia, ending at the main train station, Butterworth. The International Express Train 35 departs Bangkok at 14:45 daily and arrives in Arau (Perlis, Malaysia) at 10:34 the next day. The train crosses the Thai-Malaysian border at Padang Besar before reaching the destination at town of Arau. Once you arrive at the border (Padang Besar), you will have to take off all your luggage and go through passport control. Just ask one of the Thai immigration officers where to go. This train service from Thailand to Malaysia is not operated by the Malaysian Railways (KTMB) but is a Thai train that is operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). When you get on the train in Bangkok the conductor is a SRT worker. They get off the train at the border station of Padang Besar and the KTMB Malaysia workers take over from here. The train tickets in Thailand can be bought in person at Hua Lamphong station or any other train station up to sixty days in advance. It is not currently possible to buy cross-border tickets via online. For these type of tickets either buy at the station directly or use an agent. During the high season (December - March) it is advisable to book this train at least a week in advance if you can, especially if you want a lower berth. You can also book your tickets from any ticketing agent in Bangkok, but they will charge an extra fee and it is quite easy to go to the station yourself. The ticket available from THB1,000 for single trip. You need to get off at Arau Railway Station (the next station after Padang Besar). The Secretariat of ICMS 2018 will provide free pick-up service at the Arau Railway Station. We will welcome you with a sign at the station. OPTION 3: BY FLIGHT (Bangkok to Hatyai) Bangkok- Don Mueng Airport or Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi Airport Hatyai International Airport Sadao/Dannok Immigration Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex The Hatyai International Airport (HDY) with a completely terminal is about 50km from Malaysia Thailand border. There are Thai Airways and other budget airlines flies this route - Tiger Airways from Singapore, Nok Air, Thai Air Asia and Thai Lion Air from Bangkok. The details flight service to Hat Yai as below: 1. Nok Air from Bangkok Don Mueang (Domestic) 2. Thai AirAsia from Bangkok-Don Mueang, Pattaya, Kon Kaen and Chiang Mai (Domestic) and Johor Bahru (International). 3. Airasia from Kuala Lumpur (International). 4. Thai Lion Air from Bangkok-Don Mueang, Chiangmai and Udon Thani (Domestic) 5. Thai Airways from Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi (Domestic) 6. Thai Smile from Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi (Domestic) 7. Bangkok Airways from Phuket (Domestic) 8. Tiger Air from Singapore (International) From Hatyai International Airport to Malaysia Thailand Border (Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex): To get to Malaysia Thailand Border (Bukit Kayu Hitam Duty Free Complex), there is an Airport Limousine service located on 1st floor in front of Domestic Arrival hall. Tickets are sold at the counter. Public transport service outside the terminal (on foot 100 meter). Taxi service charges a flat rate (THB800 for one taxi from the Hatyai Airport to Malaysia-Thailand Border). It is about 50km to the border on a good seal road and depending on traffic condition, the road journey will take about 45 to 60 mins.

FROM KUALA LUMPUR FROM KUALA LUMPUR (for participants from Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia) Participants coming from Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia are advice to take a land transport (bus/train) or air flight to Kuala Lumpur. Below is a best route to UUM from Kuala Lumpur. OPTION 1: BY FLIGHT (Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar) Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) or Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, Alor Setar The Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (AOR), Alor Setar is about 45 km from Universiti Utara Malaysia. There are Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and other budget airlines flies this route - Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2); Malindo Air and Firefly from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport, Kuala Lumpur-Subang. The details flight service to Alor Setar as below: 1. Malaysia Airlines from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 2. Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) 3. Malindo Air from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Kuala Lumpur-Subang 4. Firefly from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Kuala Lumpur-Subang The Secretariat of ICMS 2018 will provide free pick-up service at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, Alor Setar. OPTION 2: BY TRAIN (Kuala Lumpur to Arau Railway Station (Perlis)) Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) or Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang Kuala Lumpur Sentral Arau Railway Station, Perlis Kuala Lumpur Sentral (www.klsentral.com.my) or Sentral Kuala Lumpur is a transit-oriented development that houses the main railway station of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. KL Sentral was designed as an intermodal transport hub. Most of Kuala Lumpur's passenger rail lines serve KL Sentral, while many intercity trains serving Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore start there. From KLIA and KLIA2 to KL Sentral Option A: KLIA or KLIA2 to KL Sentral by Express Railway Link (ERL) ERL (www.kliaekspres.com) is the fastest way and it takes a mere 30 mins to the Kuala Lumpur city centre. The Express Rail links the KLIA and KLIA2 with KL Sentral. The ticket counter are on Level 1 of the KLIA complex and also at Level 2 KLIA2 complex. From the departure and arrival halls, follow the signs for KLIA express. There are 2 KLIA express rail trains and schedules:- a non-stop direct train from KLIA and KLIA2 to KL Sentral -called the KLIA Express a transit train which stops at Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya/Cyberjaya & Bandar Tasik Selatan enroute to KL Sentral called the KLIA Transit Fare on both the Ekspres and Transit are RM55 for one-way

Option B: KLIA or KLIA2 to KL Sentral by Airport Limo / Budget Taxi Travellers can choose from taxi and limo services offered by Airport Limo from KLIA and KLIA2 to KL Sentral. The taxi and limo services at KLIA and KLIA2 operate through a coupon system that you purchase at Airport Limo counters at International and Domestic Arrival Hall. Alternatively, metered taxi available at level 1 and 3 of the Main Terminal Building KLIA and Level 1 of the Gateway@KLIA2 building. Passengers have to purchase RM2 coupon prior to boarding these taxis. Distance between KLIA / KLIA2 and KL Sentral is 60.04 km. The journey will take about 45 minutes and the taxi fares from RM80.00 (one taxi). Option C: KLIA or KLIA2 to KL Sentral by bus (Airport Coach / Aerobus / Skybus) Once you arrive at KLIA, please proceed to the KLIA bus station situated at Ground Floor Block C annex to main terminal building which is just 3 minutes walking distance from arrival hall exit. Please get your ticket at Airport Coach counter no 3. The bus will depart to KL Sentral from platform 1 KLIA bus station. For KLIA2 from the international arrival hall you walk straight for about 3 minutes until you see an escalator. Once down on your left you will see the SkyBus terminal (www.skybus.com.my) and on your right you will see the SkyBus ticket booth. RM10 per person is the standard rate from KLIA2 to KL Sentral. NOTE: Malindo Air and Firefly passengers will arrived at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. The best way to get to KL Sentral is by taxi. From the airport it normally takes around 25 minutes to reach KL Sentral. Taxi fares are around RM20/RM25 on the meter.

From KL Sentral to Arau Railway Station, Perlis Train from KL Sentral to Arau (please check the destination under the state of Perlis) is served by Keretapi Tanah Melayu's (www.ktmb.com.my). Ekpress Langkawi which runs daily between Kuala Lumpur and Hat Yai via Butterworth in Penang. Trains for Hat Yai leave at 9.20 pm and arrived in Arau at 7.56 am (next day approximately 10.5 hours). The Economy Class ticket available from RM38 for single trip. For fastest journey, the Electric Train Service (ETS) runs daily between KL Sentral Station to Padang Besar Station (Perlis). The electric train departs 5 times a day from KL Sentral to Arau Railway Station and takes approximately 5 hours and 12 mins. All the following ETS services depart daily. If you wish to depart from the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station rather than KL Sentral, trains leave just 4-5 minutes later than the time shown below : Train No. Type of Service Departure (KL Sentral) Arrival (Arau) 9202 ETS Platinum 0645 1145 9420 ETS Gold 0944 1445 9204 ETS Platinum 1140 1640 9422 ETS Gold 1817 0026 9424 ETS Gold 2327 0437 The new ETS Trains only have one class - there are no 1st, 2nd or 3rd class seats. Fares vary on the type of train only. ETS Gold Trains cost: Adult RM73 - Child RM41 ETS Platinum Trains cost: Adult RM98 - Child RM53 The Secretariat of ICMS 2018 will provide free pick-up service at the Arau Railway Station. OPTION 3: BY BUS (Kuala Lumpur to Changlun Bus Station) Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) or Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) Changlun Bus Station Northbound express buses to relocate operations from Pudu Sentral to TBS by November 1, 2016. TBS- BTS facility is integrated and provided better connectivity to the city centre via the LRT, KTM commuter, and KLIA Transit services. Through CTS Counters 1-18 and Self-Service Ticket Vending Machines 1-6, TBS offers centralized ticketing service (CTS) on behalf of bus operators for all southern destinations, east-coast and northern destinations. All credit card and webcash purchase for CTS tickets can be made through e-ticketing portal. From KLIA and KLIA2 to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS) Option A: KLIA or KLIA2 to TBS by bus (Jetbus & Starshuttle) Jetbus a bus company that operates route between KLIA2 to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) at Bandar Tasik Selatan. Jetbus own s a fleet of 15 units 40 seater fully air conditioned buses with enough space for luggage. Jet bus operates around 42 daily bus trips between KLIA2 and TBS. Buses trip starts as early as 3 am to 12 pm. It takes around 1 hour 1 minutes to reach KLIA2 from TBS or vice versa. Starshuttle was operating within airport (KLIA / KLIA2) to TBS. Star Shuttle has the objective to provide a direct, non-stop shuttle service from airport KLIA and KLIA2. Starshuttle is famous with its quality service, affordable, comfortable ride and reasonable price to the passengers. Once you arrive at KLIA, please proceed to the KLIA bus station situated at Ground Floor Block C annex to main terminal building which is just 3 minutes walking distance from arrival hall exit. The Star Shuttle bus will depart to TSB from platform 1 KLIA bus station.

For KLIA2, the bus terminal is located in level 1 with ticket counters located in International and Domestic Arrival in level 2. Rates depend on the destination, but a one way transfer between KLIA2 and TBS starts at RM10. Option B: KLIA or KLIA2 to TBS by Express Railway Link (ERL) KLIA Transit ERL (http://www.kliaekspres.com) is the fastest way and it takes a mere 30 min to the Kuala Lumpur city centre. The Express Rail links the KLIA and KLIA2 with KL Sentral. The ticket counter are on Level 1 of the KLIA complex and also at Level 2 KLIA2 complex. From the departure and arrival halls, follow the signs for KLIA express. There are 2 KLIA express rail trains and schedules :- a non-stop direct train from KLIA and KLIA2 to KL Sentral - called the KLIA Express a transit train which stops at Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya/Cyberjaya and Bandar Tasik Selatan enroute to KL Sentral called the KLIA Transit From KLIA or KLIA2 to TBS, please take KLIA Transit, and get off at Bandar Tasik Selatan. The KLIA Transit train station there is a bridge that directly connects to the TBS bus terminal. Fare on the KLIA Transit to TBS-BTS starts from RM26.50 for one-way Option C: KLIA or KLIA2 to TBS by Airport Limo / Budget Taxi Travelers can choose from taxi and limo services offered by Airport Limo from KLIA and KLIA2 to TBS. The taxi and limo services at KLIA and KLIA2 operate through a coupon system that you purchase at Airport Limo counters at International and Domestic Arrival Hall. Alternatively, metered taxi available at level 1 and 3 of the Main Terminal Building KLIA and Level 1 of the Gateway @ KLIA2 building. Passengers have to purchase RM2 coupon prior to boarding these taxis. Distance between KLIA / KLIA2 and TBS is 50.00 km. The journey will take about 45 minutes and the taxi fares from RM70.00 (one taxi). NOTE: Malindo Air and Firefly passengers will arrived at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. The best way to get to TBS-BTS is by taxi. From the airport it normally takes around 30 minutes to reach TBS-BTS. Taxi fares are around RM30/RM35 on the meter.

Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal is the main bus terminal for long-distance buses. Sungai Nibong is the name of the town, where the bus terminal is situated. It's close to the Penang Bridge and Penang International Airport (8 km). From here the buses leave to all directions of the country. Some buses are leaving for Thailand. From Penang International Airport to Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal Option A: Penang International Airport to Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal by bus. Upon arrival at Penang International Airport, as you exit the Arrival Hall, there are 3 lanes. The first one nearest the Exit is for Airport Taxis to pick up passengers, the second one is for private cars to pick up passengers and the third, the furthest lane from the Exit, is for buses. It is also the southern end of the International Express from Bangkok, Thailand.
