Since 1929, Hotelschool The Hague has been At the heart of hospitality. On 11 November 2014, it was exactly 85 years ago, that Hotelschool The Hague opened its doors at the Gevers Deynootweg 27 in Scheveningen. This problem was quite visible during the First World War. Some men in the Netherlands wanted to change this lack of educated employees and decided to open a course, in 1919, which would train one into a true hotel employee. They mainly focused on those already in the hotel business. The course was held at the Kurhaus during the evenings in January, February, March and April. It turned out to be a huge success. After the roaring 20 s. In 1931, the Hotelschool moved from Hotel Mathilde Maria to Hotel Klerk at the Gevers Deynootweg 9. Mr J.J. Maat gave his function as Director of the Hotelschool over to Mr J.A. Dalloyaux. The grant given by the government was brought down to 75 gulden per student, per month. First woman sets foot in Hotelschool The Hague. During the 30 s the Hotelschool got more and more recognition scholarships were introduced. In Photo above: Please note that the woman on the photo is not Miss De Blêcourt. Hotelschool The Hague opens new Boarding School at Assendelfstraat 20. In 1942, a new location for the Boarding School was found. The students would now live in Hotel Aurora in the Assendelfstraat. The lessons were still given at the old location. The course was extended with 2.5 months. This meant the students would now start on 15 September. The students shared their room with eight other boys Page 2

Following Martin Luther King Jr. s presentation of his I have a dream speech in 1963 and the Beatles successful album: A Hard Day s Night which stayed number 1 for 14 weeks in 1964, it was in the year 1966, on 15 September, that Prince Bernhard opened the Hotelschool s new building. Hotelschool The Hague introduces new timetable. In 1970, Mr Overwater, French Lecturer, had new plans for managing the Hotelschool. That year those plans were realised. Starting off the 80s was the retirement of Queen Juliana whom was succeeded by her daughter Beatrix. This event was followed by changes and developments within the Hotelschool. In 1984 the Hotelschool introduced a new curriculum. This allowed the intake of 120 students per semester instead of 72 students Page 5

Hotelschool The Hague during the Millenium. In 2000, the world celebrated the Millennium. Meanwhile at the Hotelschool, a new auditorium was opened in The Hague. Also a foundation was laid, of holding, Hotelschool The Hague, Leadership Development (Curriculum Consultancy, Consultancy & Training, Master Programme). During the summer of 2000, the Olympic Games were held in Sydney. Hotelschool The Hague is ranked amongst top 5 in Hospitality Management Schools. In 2007, Student Association La Confrérie celebrated its 50th Anniversary and the Master in Hospitality Management Programme Hotelschool The Hague celebrates 85th Anniversary in style!
