Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Lodge No. 2703 P.O. Box 7271 Jupiter, FL 33468 www.sonsofitalyjupiter.com May 2018 Volume 24, Issue 5 Dear Brothers and Sisters: I am pleased to announce that at our May 2nd meeting we will have a Bingo Nite. I know many of our members enjoy playing bingo. Also on the agenda for May is our annual Calendar Meeting on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Berry Fresh Café on Military Trail at 11:30 a.m. So far we have 10 cabins booked on the Grand Classica the 3 day cruise to Freeport. I m sure we are going to have a great time. The picnic in April turned out very well. We had a nice assortment of delicious dishes made by the wonderful cooks in our lodge. It was a lot of work and I want to thank everyone especially the cooks, servers and Brother John and Sister Maria Landi who always make sure we have enough dinnerware, etc. at our meetings and events. I would like to continue the lodge raffle instead of raising the dues. It is only $10.00 p.p. for the year and from September 2018 to June 2019. Each month a winner will receive $25.00. If we have 70 members contributing we will have $700 - $250 paid out, giving us a $450 profit. Everyone who went to Eastpointe for lunch enjoyed the food and we all enjoyed each others company. Those of us who went to the Delray Country Club to honor Brother Ed Mottola for his many years of service to the Sons of Italy organization also enjoyed themselves. It was a wonderful buffet dinner and Brother Dino Diliberti s singing was fantastic. He sang many Italian songs with that great voice of his and had everyone singing along. It was a very special night for Brother Ed. Fraternally Yours, Carole DeVito, President Happy Mothers Day Have a Happy Memorial Day The picture above is of our member Brother Julio Rodio, winner of the Grand Lodge Easter calendar. The amount for this day was $1000. With him are Sister Angela Nobile (calendar agent) and President Carole DeVito. Congratulations CALENDAR MEETING THURSDAY, MAY 10, 2018 Everyone is welcome to discuss and give their thoughts on events to be planned for the 2019 calendar. GOD BLESS THE USA Proud To Be An American If tomorrow all the things were gone I d worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife. I d thank my lucky stars to be living here today, Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can t take that away. And I m proud to be an American where at least I know I m free. And I won t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. Cause there ain t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A. From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee, Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea, From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA, Well, there s pride in every American heart, And it s time we stand and say: I m proud to be an American where at least I know I m free. And I won t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. Cause there ain t no doubt I love this land! God bless the U.S.A.
