STRIVING FOR RESTORATION EXCELLENCE Conference Purpose SERA is dedicated to providing educa on, specialised training, and networking opportuni es for ecological and environmental professionals working together to meet the challenges of ecosystem restora on. SERA provides an interac ve forum for physical, biological, and social scien sts, engineers, resource managers, planners, and policy makers to share their experiences and research results concerning large scale ecosystem restora on on both na onal and interna onal levels. The theme for 2018 is Striving for Restora on Excellence and will provide the founda on, tools and latest research to make the most of your restora on project. Sessions will span an array of themes from principles and prac ce, biomes, impact and specialist disciplines. Who Should A end? SERA is a collabora ve effort. If you are a scien st, praconer, manager, or policy maker and are ac vely involved in and/or affected by all aspects of ecosystem restora on, you do not want to miss this conference! Individuals interested in restora on planning and management ac vi es such as se ng goals, objec ves, and performance standards by which to measure success should be sure to a end. Venue The University of Queensland (UQ) is a research university primarily located in Queensland's capital city, Brisbane. As one of Australia's leading universi es, UQ is consistently ranked first for business administra on, mining engineering and life sciences in Australasia and it's top ten in global ranking for environmental sciences and ecology. UQ also admits the majority of its state's top achievers. The main campus occupies much of the riverside inner suburb of St Lucia, southwest of the Brisbane central business district. Founded in 1909 by the state parliament, UQ is one of Australia's oldest universi es colloquially known as a sandstone university.

The SERA2018 conference will be structured around four key pillars including: Principles & Prac ce Biomes Impact Specialist disciplines The conference presents an opportunity to set future direc ons in restora on ecology and learn about the latest tools, techniques, successes and failures across a gradient of landscapes from the oceans to the mountains to the deserts. INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE The Striving for Restora on Excellence conference aims to: Promote ecological restora on and the principles of ecological restora on as outlined in the Primer of the Society for Ecological Restora on Interna onal and the Na onal and Interna onal Standards for the prac ce of Ecological Restora on. Promote an awareness of the need to conserve, protect, enhance and restore natural resources and promote natural ecological processes. Contribute to and promote the development of policies that support ecologically sustainable land use. Promote ecological restora on and the principles of ecological restora on through adherence to the interna onal principles and aspira ons of the Society for Ecological Restora on. Facilitate two way technological transfer between the fundamental sciences and praconers of ecological restora on. Provide an opportunity for collabora on and discussion among stakeholders including researchers, restora on prac oners, government agencies, policy makers, planners, ecological consultants and landscape architects. A endance The Society for Ecological Restora on Australasia is the peak bodies for ecological restora on science in Australia and Oceania; the SERA conferences held once every two years and are a ended by approximately 300 scien sts, researchers, praconers, consultants, industry, government and policy advisers, and students from throughout Australia and overseas. The conference also strongly encourages the par cipa on of Indigenous ecologists, offering an Indigenous values in restora on session to create a be er link with Indigenous people working in ecology and land management. No responsibility can be taken for any loss or damage to equipment and display materials. INSURANCE Exhibitors are encouraged to take out insurance coverage for their own protec on and indemnity. Exhibitors will be liable for any damage caused by them or their employees, contractors, agents and invitees, to any other exhibitors or any common property or third party within the exhibi on.
