That was the story of the 4 th Annual Las Vegas AMC Reunion/AMCRC Southwest Regional held on November 6-7 at the Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino. The weekend started on Friday with a cruise on Lake Mead aboard the Desert Princess paddlewheeler. About 35 people took the cruise and had a blast. The cruise was followed by a BBQ at one of Boulder City s nicest parks, Veteran s Memorial. Our club hosted the feast and Andy Ray did an incredible job as head chef. Everyone went back to Railroad Pass with full stomachs and big smiles. Thanks to everyone who contributed towards making the BBQ a huge success. It looks like it will become an annual event. The last item on the Friday agenda was early registration in the banquet room of the hotel. The crowd was treated to some very interesting AMC DVD s from the collection of Larry Daum. The show on Saturday turned out to be our best one yet. The weather was perfect with a temperature in the high 70 s with a light breeze and not a cloud in the sky. By the time registration opened, the show field was already pretty full. What a fantastic sight to see! The final count of registered cars was 54 (including 21 AMX s) and it was, without question, the best assortment of cars we ve ever had. It was very exciting to see cars from California, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Washington and northern Nevada. We also had a few parts vendors on hand including Doug Galvin and his son Ben from Galvin s AMC Rambler Parts in Lodi, CA. Also joining us was the local AMSOIL dealer Jim Williams. We were also pleased to have two of the largest AMC parts vendors with us as spectators, Jeff Kennedy of Kennedy American and Doug Noel of American Parts Depot. Throughout the day, a DJ played good music, many door prizes were given away and everyone had a great time. The awards presentation and the raffle drawing followed the show. The day concluded with an excellent buffet dinner.

Club Holiday Party Danny Barnett has once again graciously offered to host the club holiday party at his house. The date of the party is December 19th from 2pm-6pm. For those who are new to the club or may not know where he lives, his address is 5010 Jean Ave., Las Vegas (map below). We're going to do things a little differently this year. Instead of Danny buying most of the food, it will be a potluck. If you choose to bring something to BBQ, he'll have the grill fired up but you will have to cook your own. If some of us are willing to chip in to help defray the cost, Danny will gladly pick up some of the absolutely delicious roast beef and pork loin be bought last year. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated. Of course, bring your favorite beverage. Bring your spouse or significant other and join us to celebrate the holidays or just come to socialize with your fellow club members. Since we're on the subject of parties, those party animals Bob and Gail Brandys have offered to host us at their lovely home in Las Vegas on January 23rd. The party will start in the early afternoon. As more details become available, I'll let everyone know. For those of you who haven't met Bob and Gail, they are in the process of moving here from a suburb of Chicago and they are major car people. They own several classic cars including a Metropolitan, two Pacers, a few '69 Camaro's and three DeLorean's (including an electric one). Plan now on being there. Job Opening Andy Ray has stepped down as club Vice-President for personal reasons. I want to thank Andy for his fervent dedication to the club, his support, his hard work and keeping me in line. He will remain an active member. Any member interested in volunteering for the Vice-President position is asked to please contact me. New Members: The club gained several new members at the show. They are Bob Martinez ( 70 AMX) from Fillmore, CA., Dave & Kati Chick ( 68 AMX) from Monrovia, CA., Tim Crafts ( 68 AMX/ 71 Hornet SC 360) from Delta, UT, Dick Cochran ( 69 AMX) from Las Vegas, Stan Kelly ( 60 American 4-dr./ 61 American convertible/ 65 Ambassador 880 S.W./ 65 Ambassador 990 S.W./ 65 Marlin/ 66 Marlin/ 67 Marlin/ 68 Ambassador SST 4-dr.) from Porterville, CA, Ron & Marti Serab ( 70 AMX Custom) from St. George, UT and Eugene Reed ( 75 Jeep CJ-5) from Las Vegas.
