It is close to the attractive walled city of Lucca and within easy reach of Tuscany's famous citta' d'arte. Daily breakfast is offered, along with daily maid service to ensure a relaxing holiday for the whole group. Great care has been taken over the restoration of this exceptional 17th century villa, retaining a sense of splendour in keeping with the historic homes of Lucca. The two larger living rooms are fine areas in which to relax with a drink, perhaps whilst enjoying some music or reading a book. Bedrooms are spacious and of a very high standard, all with ensuite bath or shower rooms. The villa is approached via a driveway lined with cypress which winds its way through the walled grounds, planted with lime-trees, oaks, olives and magnolias. It is just a gentle stroll to the nearby village of Vorno where there are several shops and a restaurant, and there is a Pizzeria just 200m away from the villa. However, for those wishing to venture further afield, Lucca is only 20 minutes from the villa. Perhaps best known as the birthplace of Puccini, here you can enjoy a tour of the city walls on foot or by bike, where you have a birds eye view of the medieval and Renaissance churches and towers. Enjoy a coffee in the wonderful Piazza Anfiteatro or dine in one of the many great local restaurants - Lucca is one of the best preserved of all the great Tuscan cities. Pisa is about a thirty-minute drive and the Versilia coast and the blue flag beaches of Forte dei Marmi are about 40 minutes away. Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and many of the most beautiful towns and villages of Tuscany are within easy day trip distance. INSIDER TIPS This lovely, elegant and substantial building has been beautifully refurbished and makes a wonderful place to stay for a holiday. There is a real sense of timeless history here which the owners have been careful to preserve without sacrificing modern comforts; air conditioning and WiFi are included in the price, as is breakfast and the services of staff. Lucca and Pisa are easy to get to when you want to do some sightseeing, if you can drag yourselves away from the pool and gardens, that is! Lucca in particular is a place that deserves some time, whether for walking or cycling around the medieval walls and streets, visiting some of the excellent restaurants and shops that are to be found here, tasting wines in the ancient cellars in the heart of the town or just soaking up the atmosphere of this vibrant, attractive place.
