The World Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of the United Republic of Tanzania are convening the first Pan-African conference on Sustainable Tourism Management in African National Parks and Protected Areas: Challenges and Opportunities to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, from 15 to 18 October 2012. This Pan-African conference is open to the participation of Member States and to the affiliate members, to other invited delegations, as well as to representatives of the Pan-African tourism industry. STATUS OF PARTICIPANTS 4. The Government of Tanzania will take the necessary steps to facilitate the arrival and departure of participants invited by the Organization, as well as their stay in Tanzania. Throughout their stay, participants will enjoy the privileges and immunities provided for in the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations of 13 February 1946. IV. ENTRY FORMALITIES 5. A valid passport is necessary for visitors coming to Tanzania. Entry visas may be obtained from Tanzania Diplomatic missions abroad. 6. Participants who may wish to obtain visa on arrival have to submit in advance their particulars including valid passport, flight numbers, dates and times of arrival to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania, not later than 01 October 2012. V. TRANSPORT 7. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania will arrange free transport for all participants on arrival and at departure from the airport, as well as return transport between their hotels and the meeting place. All participants are therefore requested to forward to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania, as well as to the UNWTO Secretariat, by fax or Email, the attached participation form giving details of their arrival and departure. VI. AIRPORT TAXES 8. A departure tax of USD 30 must be paid by all passengers departing on international flights. This tax is generally included in the price of the air tickets. VII. RECEPTION AT THE AIRPORT 9. A reception and information desk will be open at the international airport of Arusha at arrival and departure for delegates for different formalities and connections with the hotels. 2

A registration desk will be available at the venue one day before the commencement of the meetings. Badges will be issued at the time of registration. XII. WORKING LANGUAGES 16. The working languages of the first Pan-African conference will be English and French. The documents will be prepared in those two languages and simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and French. XIII. SOCIAL PROGRAMME 17. Visiting Ngoro Ngoro Conservation Area. XIV. CLIMATE 18. The average temperature in Arusha in October ranges between 25 ºC minimum and 30 ºC maximum. XV. LOCAL TIME AND BUSINESS HOURS 19. The local time in Tanzania is 3+ of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Banks and services open from 8:00 am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday while on Saturdays opens at 8:00am to 1:00pm. 6
