Lacroix said the historical society tries to have a hads o experiece available for the studets. I additio to a spoke presetatio, studets were also give some activities such as writig with a quill pe, lookig through a stereoscope, ad other activities. You ca t just talk to kids; you have to ask questios, you have to get them ivolved, Lacroix said. Giy Frech, a retired Gilford Elemetary School teacher, was oe of the voluteers showig childre through the Bejami Rowe House. Charboo is curretly raked i the Top 10 for the Class of 2014, ad is a hoors studet i the State Scholars program at her school. She explaied that through State Scholars, there are certai requiremets studets must meet, icludig the study of a foreig laguage. Whe you become a State Scholar, you re recogized at graduatio, ad it also goes o your trascript, which is a good thig, said Charboo. Her trascript is already lookig quite good, however. She is a member of this year s Prom Committee, ad helped with all the plaig of the upcomig May 10 formal evet. The committee started their work at the begiig of the school year, ad had a lot of work to do durig that time. We decided where we would hold the prom, came up with theme ideas for seiors to vote o, ad desiged the tickets ad ceterpieces, she said. This year s theme will be Masquerade, ad she ad her classmates are lookig forward to a fu eveig of food, music ad fu at the Mojalaki Coutry Club i Frakli. Last year, she was diagosed with ovaria cacer i mid-jauary. The previous year she had bee battlig breast cacer ad successfully beat it. Dutto is the Varsity soccer coach at Belmot, middle school track coach ad Varsity girls basketball coach at Wiisquam. For approximately fourtee years, Dutto coached the girls JV basketball team at Wiisquam alogside close fried ad colleague, Pam Rozea. I the 2012-2013 JV basketball seaso, she ad Rozea coached their way through the JV touramet hosted at Frakli. Dutto ad the team successfully beat a udefeated Gilford i the champioship game. The Bears picked up aother victory, this time over Lakes Regio foe Iter-Lakes/ Moultoborough, 25-16, 29-31, 15-6, i a home match at the high school. This was the most competitive match we ve had so far, explaied Wiisquam head coach Mike Liverois, who also coaches the varsity volleyball team i the fall. Game two was tese. As far as wis ad losses go...we just do t focus o that. But the kids are workig hard ad havig fu ad they re buildig relatioships, ad it s givig kids opportuities that they might ot usually have. This sprig marked the secod year for the Uified program at Wiisquam. While the umber of Uified players is o the lowed for the Bears, Liverois was happy to see a icrease i players from his fall volleyball program takig part i the actio. This is the secod year ad it s bee goig better for us, he said. We oly have four Uified athletes which is tricky, but we do have some volleyball players this year which is great. Belmot was third with 56 poits while Sat Bai School abbed sixth place with 18 poits. The boys race saw Berli take the top spot with 104 poits, while Belmot was close behid i secod place (95.75 poits). Wiisquam was third (87.75) while Sat Bai was agai sixth with 32.25 poits.
