HISTORY AND MISSION F.A.I.C. was founded in Ancona in 1999 It was the first Forum of the civil society Established after the conflicts in the Balkan area MISSION: reinforce peaceful relations and respect for human rights within territories and among Adriatic communities; relaunch the values and tools to promote the coordinated and permanent commitment of local authorities and associations in terms of growth of the Adriatic community, which has ancient origins and traditions (Charter of Ancona, 1999) ANCONA Italy

1 st PHASE: 1999-2008 F.A.I.C. is mainly focused on: recovering common history and cultural roots supporting European integration and enlargement analyzing weaknesses and strenghts of the area working on projects oriented towards environmental protection (IONAS - Ionian and Adriatic cities and ports joint cooperation, AAP- Adriatic Action Plan 2020, Enviplans, ACT Climate changes). 2 nd PHASE: 2008-2016 2 nd PHASE: 2008-2016 F.A.I.C. closely follows and supports the recognition and approval process of the Adriatic and Ionian Macroregion and EUSAIR at a European level through: enlarging the F.A.I.C. over the Macroregion territories and towards EUSAIR goals; acquiring legal personality and becoming an indipendent subject of cooperation; Initiatives aim at raising awareness and involvement of civil society and youth (like Forum of Youth and Schools, Adriatic & Ionian Macroregion Youth Games, Tipicità in blu etc.).

THE FAIC TODAY F.A.I.C. is intended to: foster cohesion and collaboration among communities and strengthen the Adriatic and Ionian Macroregion with a bottom-up approach; promote the participation of Local Authorities and stakeholders within EUSAIR cooperation processes; support cooperation activities of Cities through the creation and development of networks and partnerships; play an important role at a European level to further cooperation among territories, cities and civil society. FAIC AND EUSAIR Strengthening of the territorial cohesion process AIMYG Adriatic and Ionian Macroregion Youth Games - International sports event aimed at: enhancing the process of integration of culture, values, identity and sense of belonging to the new geopolitical subject (sport as a mean of union, universal language and vehicle of values); promoting participation of youth as beneficiaries and as future actors of an innovative economic development model based on a new way of cross-border/transnational cooperation. FAIC WITHIN EUSAIR STRATEGY Providing all Cities (including those of small and medium dimensions) with: a team of technical project managers; expertise and knowledge of European policies; collaboration, best practices sharing and exchange, expertise and services related to EU planning; training courses (capacity building); database (projects, partners, expertise etc.). Pursuing the Action Plan proposals with respect to: social inclusion policies and improvement services for both citizens and production segments (fishing, culture, tourism etc.); promotion of cultural expressions support of mobiity (youth, sustainable tourism, labour market).
