Background and History of IDLS Brainchild of UK DPA and USN MIDS IPO Commercially initiated events were viewed as: Very expensive Poorly focused Too frequent Failed to attract the people who really needed to go Co-managed by Government and Industry By the community, for the community Level of global investment in Data Links warranted an annual international focus for networking and information exchange

The Norfolk location puts the event in easy access of key Government and Military establishments. Which do you want the society to target?
Why Norfolk, Virginia? Close to a number of Major US Military Bases. NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) is based in the area. A number of the Corporate Members are based in the area. Location outside a major city reduces cost

Hotel The Society has secured hotel rooms in as part of the conference booking. Central location in Norfolk, close to the USS Wisconsin Battleship Museum. Within a few kilometers of Virginia Beach. Good transportation infrastructure.

Training Day 22 October 2013 Training courses These courses enable individuals to get a full days training on one topic. There are 3 confirmed courses Joint Range Extension Application Protocol The Operational Perspective Introduction to MIDS LVT Operations and Maintenance Supporting Coherency of Information Exchange through TDLs Coalition Interface Control Officer Executive Overview More courses on its way Each course can take to 30 to 50 delegates Certificates will be issued Cost - Government $ 245 and Industry $ 395.
Speaker Programme A strong programme with a mixture of Government and Industry Speakers is planned. A good selection of abstracts from a mixture of organisations have been submitted for consideration. Significant Keynote Speakers presenting at the event. Along with the main session, there will be an educational stream. The program will be published on www.idls2013.com by the beginning of August 2013.
VIPs As always, there will be a number of VIPs attending the Symposium The VIP program will be co-ordinated by the Organising Committee as appropriate.
Corporate Packages The Gold, Silver and Bronze packages will include hotel rooms Packages will include a number of full delegate tickets and hotel rooms for four nights (22/23/24/25 Oct). Additionally, hotel rooms, corresponding to the number of delegate tickets, will be provided with packages. Gold packages will include meeting rooms.

Security At the point that equipment starts to arrive on site we will have security guards in place. Build up passes will be issued again this year to make your life easy please register the names of the people who need access to either the exhibition hall and/or demo area during this period, Due to the fact that the MIDS terminals used for Link 16, as well as other equipment are categorised as CCI equipment, co-operation with a national or other crypto storage facility is essential. We are currently working on finding a POC who can help with this.
