That is why I can t wait to spend time with each of you. THANK YOU! Christian Prez Sez. Inside this Issue Next Meeting Tuesday, June 6th Harbor Hills C.C. 244 Freeman Memorial Dr. Hebron, OH 43025 6 pm - 10 pm Well I m all healed up and with the warmer weather I m getting a few miles in on my bike. I haven t been riding as much as I would like to, but I have been getting out a few times a week between the showers. I went to Louisville to the OVSC summit and had a good time meeting with the other clubs and discussing common problems all the clubs are encountering. I was the only one there from Newark and shared a room with Dan Pack who had joined us on the Big Sky trip. It wasn t all business; we enjoyed Live on 4th Street both Friday and Saturday nights, a bike ride east of the city on Saturday morning, dinner Saturday night, and breakfast Sunday morning. I was able to talk with the representative from Sun Valley about the trip next year, and Megan was there from Banff telling us all about the extended season they were having. I heard there was a good turnout for the Social Hour in May. Sorry I didn t make it. I got out to Buckeye Lake last weekend and it was nice to see the boats out in the water again. I want to again thank the resigning board members and the great work they did for the club. Hope to see you all at the June meeting. Page 2 T HE I N S I DE E DG ET HE I N S I DE Page E DG E2 THANK YOU for EVERYTHING As usual at this time of year, we say a heartfelt THANK YOU to those Board members who have chosen to step down from their positions and hand the reigns of this club off to someone else (please see page 1 for that list). This year we have 3 members returning to the general membership: Mark Weiser, Linda Weiler, and Roy Berman. It has been a great honor, joy, and privilege to work through the thoughts, questions, ideas, problems, solutions, and humor with these people over the past few years. Linda graciously stepped up and took over Secretary for three years, and she has done a wonderful job keeping everything straight. Roy joined the Board 4 years ago as a VP-at-Large, and it is thanks to his tireless work and incredible skill that the annual Sh-Sh-Shilent auction has become such a success. Finally, Mark has truly done a tour of the Board: he started as a VP-at-large 5 years ago during the Erndt administration, moved up to Vice President, built his own 2 year presidential administration, and returned for another year at VP to help Tom Schmidt s current administration. Please, when you speak to these wonderful members over the next few meetings, thank them for helping out because I cannot thank them enough for putting in their time and effort. THANK YOU for EVERYTHING!! SUMMER SOCIAL HOURS Roy & I would like to thank everyone that came out to Buckeye Lake Pizza Cottage on the 19th in spite of the heavy rains. It was fun to see you all there, and we are looking forward to seeing you at the next two Social Hours! Nancy Channell On Friday, June 9th we will meet at 6pm at the beautiful Buckeye Lake Winery (13750 Rosewood Rd., Thornville). The winery sits right on the lake, and since there is more water in the lake, it ll be fun sitting outdoors and enjoying the lake while we enjoy each other and some good food and wine. Of course, if the weather is not good, there is room on the inside. They have a large, really good menu of salads, soups, appetizers, sandwiches, and full dinners. Check their website out at www.buckeyelakewinery.com. Come enjoy a great meal and have fun with all your friends at the Newark Ski Club. Invite your friends and maybe they will join once they see how much fun we have. On Saturday, August 19th, we will gather around 4:30pm at the beautiful Indian Bear Winery (3483 McCarment Rd., Walhonding). This place has two stories with balconies and seating on a lovely property that includes 2 lodges and cabins. You can taste some of the best wine made in Ohio from their own vines. There is a great menu, numerous wines, a few craft beers, and even wine slushies! Check them out at www.indianbearwinery.com. They ll have live music and are open until 10pm.
