Wednesday, November 7, 2018 Depart USA to Marrakesh, Morocco Day 1: Thursday, November 8, 2018 Explore Marrakesh Marrakesh is the perfect place to get lost! Our itinerary is not set. We are going to explore the city and see what kind of adventure we can find. We suggest: Visiting Bahia palace; built by Bahmad Grand visor of Marrakesh with its incredible mosaics and stucco and hear some interesting stories about four wives and the 24 concubines! The extraordinary architecture of Saadian Tomb, royal necropolis of 17th century. Spending some great time in the famous souks of Marrakesh; you're going to get lost in the different smells, colors, and the enormity of the souks of Marrakesh. Yves Saint Laurent's museum and Jack Majorelle garden, a peaceful spot in the ville nouvelle, contains botanic and exotic plants brought from all over the world, with dominating indigo blue to paint the wall. Finish your day at the square Jamaa El fina. A bustling place where there are snake charmers, monkeys, food stalls and musicians the most animated square in Marrakesh! Day 2: Friday, November 9, 2018 Explore Marrakesh Day 3: Saturday, November 10, 2018 *Optional Atlas Mountains trip, or keep exploring Marrakesh This excursion will take you an hour and a half outside the city walls of Marrakesh to Imlil by lake Lalla Takrkoust, then continue to the plateau kik where we will stop for a cup of traditional mint tea. After that, we continue to Imlil via Asni and Moulay Brahim and see the nearby waterfalls. Once we arrive to Imlil, we will enjoy an hour hike to a Berber house where you will sip on fresh mint tea and enjoy lunch with breathtaking views of the villages below. Day 4: Sunday, November 11, 2018 Marrakesh to Dades Valley After breakfast, we will travel towards Ouarzazate (gateway to the desert). From there, we will venture through many Berber villages, heading into the desert, where you will admire a riverside oasis and barren hillsides clustered with Kasbahs. Enroute you will stop at the ancient fortified city of Ait Benhaddou used as the backdrop for many films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we will travel further into the Valley of the Roses, with stunning views of the Dades valley. Here in the heart of the rose valley, damask roses were first planted by French settlers, and are harvested to produce an essential oil, often used in a variety of perfumes. Day 5: Monday, November 12, 2018 Sahara Desert Camping We will venture to Todra Gorge to take an agricultural hike and see all the villagers working in the bountiful fields and the palmeraie at Tinghir. We will be welcomed into a Berber home to see the women making beautiful Berber Rugs. On arrival at Merzouga at the dunes of Erg Chebbi, you will ride camels into the dunes, where you will spend the night in Berber tents. After seeing a beautiful sunset, you will enjoy a fantastic dinner. Underneath clear skies, you will stay overnight in a Berber camp and see a stellar spectacle. Day 6: Tuesday, November 13, 2018 Sahara to Marrakesh. After viewing the most beautiful sunrise and having breakfast at the camp site you will ride the camels back to the auberge. We will drive back to Marrakesh, where we will arrive in the early afternoon. Overnight in Marrakesh.
Day 7: Wednesday, November 14, 2018 Essaouira Drive to Essaouira and check into your hotel. Nestled along the southwestern Atlantic coast of Morocco, Essaouira s beautiful, white and quite coastal town, founded in the 16th century as a trading post for the Portuguese. It is located amongst some of the most spectacular seashore; virtually untouched beaches lie only a few miles away from the heart of the town. Day 8: Thursday, November 15, 2018 Essaouira We suggest: There are few things in Morocco more pleasurable than a stroll along its whitewashed streets and crenellated ramparts, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean.
