Important: make sure you have some Hungarian forints in cash available, as it might not always be possible to purchase tickets with a credit card. Public transportation stops working around 23:30. Night buses and taxis should be used in the late evening. The website http://bkv.hu/en/ contains the information on all Budapest public transport, including a route planner. BUDAPEST AIRPORT - HOTEL ERZSEBET CITY CENTER (Károlyi Mihály 11-15, Budapest) Bus + metro: There are two buses available: bus 93 from Terminal 1 and bus 200E going from both Terminals 1 and 2 to the Kőbánya-Kispest metro station (blue line 3). Take the metro there and get off at the Ferenciek tere. The trip would take approximately 35-45 minutes. 1
Tickets: you can buy a single one way ticket for HUF 320 (or HUF 400 when bought from the bus driver). Airport shuttle There is an airport group shuttle mini-bus that you can take (http://www.airportshuttle.hu/en). Just go to the Airport Shuttle Desk at the airport, inform the staff member which hotel you need to go to, and the staff will arrange for a place on a shared-ride shuttle service (which means that other passengers will be taken from the airport on the mini bus going to the same geographical area). You can also reserve a place on the shuttle to go back to the airport after the event, this would even be cheaper: the shuttle costs appr. 3000 HUF one way, and the return trip costs appr. 5000 HUF per person. Taxi: According to the accounting regulations of the European Commission taxi costs can only be reimbursed in particular cases (very late or early flights for instance), and a written explanation justifying those expenses need to be attached to the other documents that you claim for reimbursement. Outside the airport building you will see the booth of Fő Taxi. You need to tell the staff member the address you want to get to and pay (around 5.000-6.000 HUF). You will get a check from the staff member in the booth and will wait your turn, then you show your driver the address and this check and he will drive you there. Nothing has to be paid upon arrival. HOTEL ERZSEBET CITY CENTER (Károlyi Mihály 11-15, Budapest) - CENTRAL EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY (Nador street 9) If you want to have a nice walk: If you have some time and the weather is fine, you might want to simply go up the Karoly Mihaly street to Kossuth Lajos street, turn left and walk down to the river towards the white Erzsebet bridge, turn right and enjoy the view of the Danube while walking towards the famous Szechenyi (Chain) Bridge. Once you reach the bridge, you will see the beautiful building of the Four Seasons hotel on your right, you need to go behind it on to the Zrinyi street, which leads to the nice cathedral, called Bazilica. Go towards this cathedral and before reaching it on the crossing with Nador street at the corner you will see the entrance to the Central European University. The picturesque walk would take approximately 25-30 minutes. 3
If you simply want to go by foot: If you would rather get to the University through the city, just walk up the street always keeping going straight. Once you reach Zrinyi street you will see a nice cathedral (Bazilika) on your right. This is where you need to turn left and on the corner of the crossing with Nador street you will see the entrance to the Central European University. This walk would take approximately 20 minutes. 4
If you would like explore the second-oldest metro in the world Get on to the blue line 3 on Ferenciek tere station (to the left from your hotel) and go direction Ujpest. Get off at the next stop Deak Feren ter, where all the lines of the Budapest metro cross. Get on the yellow line 1 direction Mexikoi ut and get off on the next stop Bajcsy- Zsilinszky ut. Once you get out of the metro, take the exit towards the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky street and Bazilika. Look for the big beautiful cathedral (called Bazilika). Go behind the cathedral on Zrinyi street. You will see the entrance to the Central European University on your right at the corner of the crossing with Nador street. The trip altogether should take approximately 15 minutes. Tickets: you can buy a short section metro ticket valid on the metro for one-way trip up to 3 stops for 30 minutes after validation. The ticket costs 260 HUF. The tickets can be bought in the metro stations. Do not forget to stamp (validate) your ticket at the entrance to the metro. 5

When ordering the taxi you will need to say exactly where you need to be picked up and where you are going to. It is also possible to check with the operator how much the trip would cost approximately. HOTEL ERZSEBET CITY CENTER (Károlyi Mihály 11-15, Budapest) - EUROPA BOAT (Szilágyi Dezső Square) The official dinner of EMA General Assembly starts at 20:00 on the Europa Boat. The dinner will be combined with a splendid boat trip on the Danube river. The best way to go is to follow the Károlyi Mihály street up to the Kossuth Lajos street, turn right and go to the metro station Astoria. It is about 5 minutes walk. 7
Take the red line 2 direction Déli Pályaudvar. Get off at the Batthyány ter and go towards the Danube river. Turn right and follow the embankment towards the Szilágyi Dezső square and the Chain Bridge until you see the along the Europa boat. The whole journey takes approximately 25 minutes. 8
