PORTUGAL WILD COAST ROAD THE ITINERARY 1 ARRIVAL in LISBON Welcome to Lisbon! Our guide will pick you up at the Airport and transfer you to Sesimbra, a lovely fishing town set in a sheltered bay, the perfect place for you to start your tour. 1h00 Explore and breath the fresh air of the Atlantic ocean. Enjoy your rest here because tomorrow new adventures await you! 2 SESIMBRA to COMPORTA A fantastic day with emphasis on crossing the Arrábida Natural Park, a group of small limestone hills near the ocean and a rare example of a very ancient Mediterranean vegetation, 54km result of a very special microclimate and sharp topography. This park represents a peaceful, natural and protected encounter between land and sea. At the end of this day you will cross Sado river by Ferry to reach Troia Península and then, arrive at Comporta. Stop at any of the exceptional restaurants bent over the Atlantic Ocean and have a taste of our exquisite Portuguese food.
3 COMPORTA to PORTO COVO Start the day riding on a quiet road along canals and rice fields. Ride with the company of birds and numerous storks across plains and sandy pine forests before the landscape suddenly changes and you get into a hilly region of beautiful Cork forests. Later pass by Santiago do Cacém, a lovely town known for its beautiful medieval castle. Leave Santiago by a road on the sierra and get to the sea. You will enter the Natural Park of Sudoeste Alentejano and Costa Vicentina on a scenic road over the sea and pass by Porto Covo, a typical fishing village, now transformed into a picturesque place by the sea. 86km 4 PORTO COVO to ODECEIXE Today start by heading inland until you get to Vila Nova de Milfontes. Ride across the SW Alentejo Natural Park with amazing views over the sea and visit the stunning Cape Sardão. Here you can admire the stork nests built on the cliffs! Later on return inland and ride the bike along the countryside before arriving at the next coastal village Zambujeira do Mar. Ride between the coast and the hills, and just before arriving in Odeceixe you will cross the Seixe river, which will mark your entry into a new region - the Wild Algarve! 53km +600m
5 ODECEIXE to ARRIFANA Start riding in direction of the coastline and get to one of the most beautiful sceneries of this coast, the beach of Odeceixe! Ride between the agricultural fields of this region, then go in direction of the coast to visit the wonderful beach of Amoreira. Afterwards, follow a valley where once caravels sailed to the village of Aljezur before reaching this village where you will go up the narrow streets with typical houses and visit its medieval castle! Continue on following a winding road that sweeps down from the clifftops to the sea, where you will find the stunning village of Monte Clérigo. End the day in an amazing village over the cliffs - Arrifana! 60km 6 ARRIFANA to SAGRES Ride through some forests and get again close to sea by Carrapateira a typical small village over a beautiful dune region close to one of the best beaches of this region. Visit Amado Beach, a great surfing spot, before getting back on the road and riding uphill to a plateau. Continue heading south and pass by the typical Vila do Bispo. Finally you will arrive at Cape S. Vicente - the south-westernmost point of Continental Europe. From here it s just a short ride to Sagres. 79km
7 SAGRES to LAGOS The last day will be full of beautiful and scenic rides by the sea passing by some typical old fishing villages. You will pass by Salema, an old fishing village nested in a secluded bay, surrounded by dramatic sun baked ochre cliffs. Burgau is another lovely fishing village over the sea where you might encounter fishermen fixing their fishing nets. Beautiful beaches and Ponta da Piedade, where you can find a fantastic scenery of cliffs, caves and rocks, carved by the power of the ocean, with an amazing mixture of colors, will make this an unforgettable 48km +750m 8 DEPARTURE Time goes by so fast when you re having fun!
