Legend for Meals provided breakfast lunch dinner Day One - (Arrival Day and La Valtellina - Apple orchards, vineyards and beautiful mountains as far as the eye can see!) Voghera/Malpensa - Varenna - La Valtellina - Tirano You will be met by Jim or your tour leader at the Voghera train station between 11 and 11.30am, or alternatively at Milan s Malpensa Airport between 12.30 and 1pm. We then head up to the area in the northern most part of Lombardy known as La Valtellina. Spectacularly located in a very picturesque valley, La Valtellina shares the border with Switzerland. Along the way guests will have a break in the charming town of Varenna, on the eastern shore of Lake Como. We then head to the Valtellina, where our cosy Bed and Breakfast awaits us! After our arrival and once you have settled in, you have the opportunity to explore the tranquil town of Tirano, or simply relax amidst the apple orchards and vineyards at our residence, the Al Vecchio Torchio (The Old Wine Press). If you decide to visit Tirano don t forget to sample the Sforzato, a prized local red made The "Al Vecchio Torchio" from late-ripened nebbiolo grapes. It s a true delight! Tonight's free dinner is at the Al Vecchio Torchio. Day Two - ( Il Trenino Rosso - St Moritz - Livigno - Cooking Class) St Moritz, Switzerland Livigno Al Vecchio Torchio Today is a very special day indeed. Don't forget your passports because early this morning you will depart from Tirano on the Trenino Rosso for a day out in the Swiss Alps! Enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains as the little red train meanders through a multitude of valleys and passes, and climbs up to a height of 2252 meters above sea level! It is truly one of the most spectacular train rides that exists today. Spend a couple of hours in St Moritz enjoying the lakeside ambience that this classic Swiss mountain resort has to offer, and we then move on to the scenic "Il Trenino Rosso" (Little Red Train) Italian tax free town of Livigno, where you can buy sunglasses watches and a whole range of items at pretty good prices! After our day out we spend the evening at Al Vecchio Torchio with the establishment's chef, Vittorio, as we learn and help him to prepare our evening's dinner, the famous local dish - Pizzocheri (a tasty pasta dish unique to this area comprised of Grano Saraceno (Buck Wheat) pasta, potatoes, and a hearty mix of cabbage, sage, butter and the local Casera cheese. We will later enjoy the fruits of our labour over a relaxing evening's meal once all the hard work in the kitchen is done!.

Day Three - ( Tirano and Sondrio - La Valtellina ) Tirano - Sondrio - Al Vecchio Torchio In the mid morning today we will be visiting the rustic town of Tirano. The morning is free here, but our suggestion would be to visit the lovely Palazzo Salis, with its highly decorated rooms and lovely garden. For our provided lunch we will be dining in a restaurant located in the old town. After lunch we will have a rest at Al Vecchio Torchio, before moving on to Sondrio, an elegant nearby provincial city. After this excursion we return to Al Vecchio Torchio for a free evening in preparation for our day out on Lake Como tomorrow. "I Pizzocheri" Day Four - (Lake Como Day) Lake Como Menaggio, Bellagio and the Majesty of Italy s most beautiful lake! Today we once again visit Lake Como, one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe and a place described by the poet Percy Shelley, as surpassing in beauty everything I have ever seen hitherto. Amongst the famous people to grace the shores of the lake, both past and present, are George Clooney, Gianni Versace and Pliny the Younger in the first century AD! The day is spent in the Triangolo Lariano, or the central section of the lake in the towns of Menaggio and Bellagio, where, after your ferry crossing, you can enjoy a free lunch in one of the many eateries in Bellagio beside the Lake. Upon our return to Al Vecchio Torchio we enjoy our provided dinner together. Day Five - (Lake Maggiore and Piedmont) Stresa - Monferrato, Piemonte Today we depart La Valtellina to begin the next leg of our tour - Piedmont. Before we reach our lodging, which is deep in the heart of Piedmont's wine country, we break for a free lunch in the gorgeous lake side town of Stresa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. After lunch we head off to the classic wine region of Piedmont for our next few days together where a host of gastronomic delights await us! Upon arrival at our charming lodging, La Quercia Rossa in Moncalvo, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a free dinner.

Day Six - ( Eataly the home of Italian Gourmet food and Torino - The King's capital) Eataly Torino - Moncalvo Today we pay a visit to a truly inspirational monument to the Slow Food movement in Italy and around the world Eataly. The overriding aim of Eataly is to quash the myth that quality products need to be expensive and hence available to only a limited circle of Torino's Eataly privileged people. Eataly offers the best cottageindustry products at sustainable prices by dealing directly with the producers. Its main aim is to increase the awareness of consumers so that we can choose high quality products and pay particular attention to the source and processing of raw materials. Guests will have a free lunch at one of Eataly's 8 different restaurants before departing for an early afternoon visit to Central Turin, where the majesty of Italy's first capital city (after its unification in 1861) awaits us! Today our provided evening meal will be enjoyed either in Moncalvo or at La Quercia Rossa. Day Seven - (Barolo wine country day and optional Truffle Hunt!) Barolo Wine Region Alba - Moncalvo Today we pay a morning visit to the township of Barolo, which is the home of its namesake and arguably Italy's most famous wine Barolo, made from the local nebbiolo grape variety. After our visit to Barolo we will enjoy a cellar visit and tasting at a nearby winery owned by the Ceretto family. Monsardo Bernadina The Ceretto wine brand has been managed by the Ceretto family for three generations. Its business mission for more than seventy years has been to strive for excellence in wine and to be an international ambassador of Piedmont and Italy. After we have visited the company's Monsordo Bernadina vineyard and winery, the evidence of this will become all too clear, as we see the beautiful and most impressive complex at one of Ceretto's flagship wineries. Guests will then have the opportunity to sample some of their delicious wines with lunch prepared at La Piola, Ceretto's restaurant located right in the heart of Alba, the home of the White Truffle! Speaking of truffles, today you also have the option of joining Jim on an optional truffle hunt in Moncalvo upon your return to our lodging!

Day Eight (Last Day of Tour) Departure for Voghera Train Station and Milan Malpensa Airport - End of Tour Today we say farewell to each other and the lush rolling hills of Piedmont. After breakfast, you will be taken to the train station at Voghera, or to Milan s Malpensa Airport. Alternatively you can make your own arrangements for your onward journey. Arrivederci!!!!!

Jim and Lynette Romagnesi Your Hosts Italian Delights is owned by Lynette and Jim Romagnesi. They returned to Australia in 2007 after a two year period living in Southern Lombardy. Lynette and Jim had many friends and family members visit them during their stay and it was their feedback and love for this area that helped Lynette and Jim realise how wonderful it would be if more people from outside Italy could have the opportunity to discover this magical place. Jim was born in Melbourne, Australia and is also a dual citizen of Italy and Australia. His father was born in Varzi, the small medieval village in the heart of the area where the tours are undertaken. Jim is a true Italophile. He soaks up any information he can gather about Italy and longs for all things Italian its wine, food, the blessed football or "calcio", motor cars and of course the coffee!! Lynette is also a dual citizen of Australia and Italy. She is very keen to employ her skills in the area of teaching, communication and cooking, so that she can be the best possible host for her guests when participating in Italian Delight s tours! She first travelled to Italy on her and Jim s honeymoon. Put simply, she fell in love with all things Italian and always dreamed that one day she would return. Ten years later her dream came true. Spending two years in the region of Lombardy with Jim, and their two sons Jason and Marcus. During this time her love for Italy grew as she was able to watch and learn from the local people in the little town near to where they were staying in.

Accommodation La Valtellina's Al Vecchio Torchio and Piedmont's La Quercia Rossa. For the first 3 days of our Fine Food, Wine, Lakes and Alps Tour we stay three nights in La Valtellina at the very cosy agriturismo, Al Vecchio Torchio. We then spend three nights at the charming family-run La Quercia Rossa in Monferrato, Piedmont. Both of these establishments are very tasteful and they typify our desire for our guests to experience a slice of the real Italy. The rooms in both lodgings are clean and comfortable, and there are outdoor common areas where guests can sit and relax with a book, or have a chat about the wonderful places that you have visited whilst with us. Guest Testimonials "I can absolutely recommend this unique tour! Every day was different, fun and interesting. Best of all was the undivided vitality, knowledge and caring guidance of our host and hostess, Jim and Lynette. They are such a caring and helpful couple. Our needs were their desire!" Sue Sydney - Australia. This has been such a good tour with you Jim. We know now why you love this part of the world so much. It is beautiful! Thank you for taking such good care of us. Grazie mille! Adi and Roger - New Jersey, US "Our Italian Delights tour was a great opportunity to have an "inside" look into local Italian life and really explore Italy. The tour was intimate, and the hosts, Jim and Lynette were very caring, attentive, punctual and knowledgeable. They always went the extra mile to ensure that our tour was memorable. Great driving too Jim!" Anthony - Canberra, Australia. Jim's attention to detail and desire to help out when we had a problem was exceptional. Graham - Melbourne, Australia This tour allowed my friends and I to experience the beauty and different cuisines relative to each different town we visited in Italy. Various people in our party had already been to Italy and all of the obvious popular cities, but this trip allowed them to experience something totally out of the box and see parts of Italy that were amazing and unexpected. Thank you Jim. Joanne - Melbourne, Australia "Our Italian Delights Classic Tour exceeded all our expectations! The great thing was that each day was different. We loved the Abbey of Sant Alberto di Butrio and also our time at the Terme di Salice. But our best day was visiting the wonderful Piazza Ducale in Vigevano followed by the delightful trip to Pavia. Another highlight was the special wines and special people we met along the way!" Anne and Rosemary - Melbourne, Australia. "The best parts of my Italian Delights tour were the lovely countryside, wineries, and some very good food! I also loved the beautiful buildings of Pavia and Milan along with all the knowledge we gained from Jim, our tour guide!" Barbara - NSW, Australia. "We particularly enjoyed Jim and Lynette's company and appreciated the effort they both put in to making our stay in Italy a memorable one; Their passion for and knowledge of areas we visited was quite evident" Barb and Pete - Melbourne, Australia. I would recommend this Italian Delights tour to all my friends and family and anyone who wants to see the real Italy and its people. Thanks Jim you were great company and very professional at all times. Dianne - Melbourne, Australia I loved the whole local experience. There was enough culture and shopping as well. The lakes area is just beautiful and the experience of travelling across the lakes to other towns was great. A very enjoyable tour Jim! You were an excellent and well informed tour guide. Bev - Adelaide, Australia I really enjoyed the tour and hope to return one day. My husband would have also loved it, hope to be back. Wonderful experience, jam packed with the best views, friendly people, great food and memories to keep forever. Thanks Jim! Maree - Melbourne, Australia If you want an immersion in Italian food, wine and culture of the Lombardy region this is for you! If you want a genuine caring and helpful host with loads of local knowledge this is for you! If you're looking for an "intimate" Italian experience this is for you! Colin and Lesley - Gold Coast, Australia.
