With the Main Street Reunion just weeks away I am sure feeling the excitement of our Car Show. All of our committees are working hard to bring Napa the best show possible. I would like to thank all the members that have stepped up to help out. We will have a lot to report next month that's for sure. We unveiled the Broken Wheel Memorial at our last meeting, what a beautiful Memorial to the Cruisers we have lost this year. Thank you Brad Parsons for all your hard work in making this come together. It will be part of our club forever. July has left us with so many wonderful car shows and many winners. What beautiful cars we have in this great club. I'm always so proud to see one of our Cruiser Family walk away with an award. Many thanks go out to everyone who helped out at the Skip Long Memorial Roundup on July 14th, everyone did a wonderful job and Theresa was very happy with the turn out and all of the help. It was a really nice show with several winners from our club. This is what it is all about, coming together as a group and having a great time doing it. We also got a great jump start on the Pedal Car ticket sales, many thanks go out to Alma, Yvonne and Chris for helping me all day and thank you again Theresa for allowing us to have the pedal car at your show. Also a reminder, we will be having our breakfast this Sunday, August 4th at Freida's on Trancas, next to American Tire and the Sizzler. You will be ordering from a menu with both American and Mexican style breakfast. We will be leaving from there and going to the Elks Lodge for their 2nd Annual Car Show and Chili Cook Off. Hope to see you there. Anyone still wishing to help with the car show please contact Mike Phillips or myself, we could always use a extra set of hands or two. Happy Cruising, Tammy

Napa Valley Cruisers Broken Wheel Memorial This is the broken wheel that will be on display at the Main Street Reunion. This will be displayed with the cars from the families of Don Martin, Bill Holbrook and Pete Maple. Sunshine Corner Linda Wuichet, what a shock. She has been riding her horse for 30 year's. She was mounting her horse and for some reason she went right on over to the other side and landed on the ground. Her friend was with her and saw the whole thing and called Jerry. She was rushed to the Kaiser Emergency Room in Vallejo with several broken bones and many bruises. They sent her home and she later had surgery in the Kaiser Vacaville Hospital. She is home now resting and trying to recover. I talked with Linda and she says she thinks her riding days are over. Kathy Phillip lost her brother this passed week. Bob and Judy Humphreys daughter just went through breast cancer surgery and will be having Chemo. They are up in Shingle Springs helping with the two little grand daughters. Sylvia Thomas sister just went through breast cancer surgery this passed week, returned after ten years. She is a passed member of our club. Carey Creech's girl friend Michelle's mother came home from the hospital today from having a stroke. Her speech is impaired was told by the doctors will improve as she heals. We wish her a fast recovery. We are sorry to her another brother of Keith Feigel has past. Please accept our condolence Keith. Talked with Barbara Holbrook and she is doing fine and has another great grand baby due sometime in December, she says life goes in a circle. She appreciates our car club keeping in contact with her. Bobbie Martin is getting out and about and keeping real busy, she will be going on the train trip this year. Sandy Maple is visiting in Idaho, I talked with her grand daughter and she is doing much better, trying to keep busy. Curb Feeler Award for July 2013 was awarded to Dan McCabe Dave Silveria presented July's Curb Feeler Award as I read about the adventures of the Golden Hills Camping Trip. Dave danced across the room with signs detailing small issues that Dan McCabe had during this trip. From missing his turn off, to taking his trailer over the medium strip and while boating he lost one of his rowing oars in the lake. Dave left us all laughing. He presented Dan with a new Oar for his boat so now he has two again and the beautiful Curb Feeler Award, which Dan proudly displayed at the Fosters Freeze Show and Shine. A photo was published of his 69 Mustang and the award in the Napa Register. The article said, owned by brothers Dan & Norman McCabe. Some of the winners this month are Ray Sanlorenzo 2nd in his class and Kirk Stafford 2nd for his Mustang at Dixon Grillin & Chillin. Hank & Jeanne Hathaway a 2nd, Louie Moore a Best In His Class and John & Jean Kelly a 2nd in there class all at the Fortuna Show. Ralph and Linda Lacaze won a vender award in Grants Pass, and I hear everyone had a great time. Congratulations to any other member that may have won awards this month too. COME TO FOSTERS FREEZE ON AUGUST 14TH AND BRING THIS ENTRY FORM FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A PROFES- SIONAL PHOTO SHOOT OF YOUR CAR. YOU CAN HAVE A ENTRY EVERY MONTH IF YOU ATTEND THIS EVENT. Grants Pass, Oregon Back to the 50s Week A group of Napa Valley Cruisers joined the Golden Hills Mustang Club on their annual Road Trip. This year they went to Back to the 50s week in Grants Pass, Oregon to attend the Fabulous 50's Car Show, put on by the Rogue Valley Classic Chevy Club. However the show is only part of the activities we enjoyed in Southern Oregon. Traveling up on Wednesday allowed us some time to explore and that we did! Thursday was a day to see the town and get rested for the Hellgate Jet Boat Ride on the Rogue River. This year we had a few "First Timers" on the boat; Brad & Debbie Parsons and Dave Silveira. Dave was really worried about being out on the water until they fired up all three Chevy V8's! He was grinning from ear to ear as we took off at full speed. It is hard to describe this ride, except that you do get WET and it is WILD! On the way back we stopped for a fabulous dinner at the O. K. Corral. All the beer, wine, ribs, chicken and fixing s you can hold on a beautiful open air porch overlooking the river. It was a spectacular meal!! On the way back we really got wet when our captain and another boat captain worked together on the spins and thrills. We jumped each other s wakes and they each tried to see who could get the other boat s passengers the wettest. It was really hot that day so we all loved every minute of it. On Friday we had a large group following our Mustang to Crater Lake. After a stop at the Picnic Basket Deli in Shady Cove for sandwiches and a few miles down the road to see the Rogue River Gorge; we had a nice picnic lunch along the crater rim. Then we drove the 33 mile loop around the rim and made one more stop in Union Creek to see the Natural Bridge. We also stopped again in Shady Cove for gas and Ice Cream on the way back. It was a wonderful day!! Saturday was car show day. This show is set in beautiful Riverside Park along the banks of the Rogue. The Chevy club does an outstanding job of putting on a great show. We got to park next to big trees with plenty of shade. This year, Ralph & Linda Lacaze won a nice merchant award for the 33 Ford along with friends, Gordon & Susie McKenzie in their '34 Plymouth. We all agreed that this is a great venue and that the whole trip was a lot of fun. We just wish that it did not fall on the same week as Fortuna. We hope it works out so we can plan a club event for next year. Many thanks go to all who went with us this year. Thanks also go to NVC member and GHMC President, Kirk Stafford, for all his help herding the 24 people who participated. Dan & Norma McCabe
