Swedavia a sustainable airport group Swedavia is a state owned company that owns, operates and develops Sweden s national basic infrastructure of airports a network of ten airports from Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north which connects all of Sweden with the rest of the world. The airport Swedavia work to constantly develop and improve the ten airports to manage the increasing demand on effective national and international travels. Malmö Airport is the fifth largest airport in Sweden and breached 2.2 million travelers during 2016. The airport is a portal to both Sweden and Denmark since it constitutes an important hub in the growing Öresund region. Malmö Airport is located in the heart of this region a large workplace employing a total of some 1 500 people spread between fifty companies. The airport has been operating since 1972 and is placed 30 km from Malmö and Lund and 55 km from Copenhagen city. The Öresund region is an expanding region and is attractive to international companies. Some reasons for this are the many universities and the region s position as a leader in medicine, biotechnology, IT and food production. In the past few years, passenger volume at the airport has risen sharply, a result of our continuously expanding offering of airlines, tour operators and international destinations.
