Our guided visit will encompass Arles 2000 years of history. You ll have free time in the afternoon to wander the streets of the town where Van Gogh lived between 1888 and 1889. Wednesday, October 23 Day 10. AIX-EN-PROVENCE>SAINT-REMY>AVIGNON Our chariot awaits! On our way to Avignon, we re off to one of Provence s great Wednesday markets, this one in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. You ll love strolling around the market place. Separated by the main thoroughfare, are the produce market and the stands with all sorts of lovely stuff, fabric, jewelry, pottery, etc. By mid-afternoon, we ll have to continue north to our next hotel in Avignon, another 1/2 hour away. Our coach will be plenty big enough to accommodate all of your purchases. Thursday, October 24 Day 11. AVIGNON Another fun-filled day, beginning with a visit to the Les Olivades factory, where we will have a factory tour, and watch fabric being either silk-screened or printed. Next we stop in Les Baux, (rhymes with low ), stunningly situated on a rocky plateau from which the whole countryside can be observed. Les Baux has been occupied from prehistoric times to the present. After wandering its streets, we visit an old stone quarry, the Carrieres des Lumieres, to see the fantastic 2019 Sound and Light show. Friday, October 25 Day 12. AVIGNON More fun! This morning we meet Chef Jonathan Chiri, who will lead us through the large Avignon indoor market. He will introduce us to his favorite vendors, and we will have a few tastings before settling down in his restaurant within the market. He ll demo our lunch, which we ll enjoy together. The remainder of the afternoon is free. Saturday, October 26 Day 13. AVIGNON We head some 16 miles west today, to see the Pont du Gard, a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Built halfway through the first century AD, it is a 50 kilometer, three-level aqueduct standing 50 meters high, which supplied water to the city of Nimes. The Pont du Gard is a UNESCO Grand Site de France. Aix-en-Provence Camargue Autrement Les Olivades Pont du Gard Photo sources: Tourist offices of Aix, Arles, Camargue Autrement & Jeanne

Sunday, October 27 Day 14. AVIGNON One more day in Provence We drive east of Avignon in order to wander through the amazing market in l Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Market stands nestle between the old paddle wheels and line the canals which surround the town center. Whether you love looking for antiques, want to purchase another Provençal souvenir, or take home more memories in your camera, this charming market will make you smile. It s a great place to sit in a café and people watch. Our next stop is in Fontaine-de- Vaucluse, the source of the Sorgue River. You may want to walk along the river to the actual source, as well as have lunch on a tree-shaded terrace along the river s edge. Monday, October 28 Day 15. If we have any energy left, we ll take a one-hour evening boat ride on the Seine. Wednesday, October 30 Day 17. PARIS Today with our guide, we visit Chateau Malmaison. Jeanne Mills Bonnie Bennett Meet the Tour Organizers and Leaders Since 1995, Jeanne Mills has been organizing and leading annual art and textile tours, visiting places that quilters, textile buffs, inveterate travelers and those looking for inspiration, will enjoy. Jeanne is an experienced European traveler, who has spent many years living and traveling in France. She is co-founder and past president of the Monterey Peninsula Quilters Guild and works part time at Back Porch Fabrics quilt shop in Pacific Grove, California. Bonnie Bennett, Jeanne s daughter, spent a few years of her early childhood growing up in France, attending local French schools. Later she earned degrees in French and English. We have traveled together often, a few times as my tour assistant and several times with one or more of the three grandchildren. Now that Bonnie has retired from her 38 years at the Manteca Unified School District, she is available to travel with the group. Because we are such Francophiles, we are heading to the South of France in 2019. Our objective is to provide travelers with opportunities to discover and take home not only memories, but creative ideas for their future artistic endeavors. We have planned the itinerary to include a bit of everything that is the essence of Provence: some history, city walking tours, gardens, a museum, outdoor markets and Provençal food. We believe these visits will interest all travelers. We reserve the right to make changes in the daily activities according to the needs and energy level of the group, the weather and new museum exhibits, ideas, suggestions and information coming to our attention. Please note: Due to train travel limitations, there is a limit of one suitcase per person, plus one small piece of hand luggage. You must be able to handle all your luggage at once. You must be able to keep up with the pace of the group. Participants must be in good physical health to participate in this moderately strenuous tour. There will be much walking, as well as getting on and off buses and trains. In Nice and Paris we will be using public transportation and almost always, we will be on foot for most of the day. Please check with your doctor if you have specific health concerns, and contact Jeanne if you would like further information regarding the pace of the excursion.(jeanne@jeannemillstours.com). Starting in March you will receive monthly electronic newsletters, filled with descriptions of the cities, towns and villages, as well as the specific visits on our itinerary. Included will be suggestions for packing and pretrip reading. If several tour participants are interested, we will plan an orientation meeting at my house in Pacific Grove. This will be an opportunity to meet each other, and for an overview of the tour s destinations and activities. It is a chance to have your questions answered and to share your ideas and specific interests. Jeanne is always available to chat by phone, 831-647-8973, or email to answer your questions. (P.S. I do not text.) Friends and family members are welcome on the tour. We will not be sewing or participating in any quilting workshops. On this tour, matching up those who would like a roommate will not be possible. Please consider coming with a roommate, or taking a single room. At the moment, I ve only booked 3 single rooms, so let me know ASAP if you d like one of them. We expect there will be time to browse in the shops, discover a treasure, find the right moment for a photo, make a sketch, meet the locals and spend time with other travelers, while sitting in a café each day. A myriad of new ideas and adventures will be yours to bring home. For a fabulous journey and memories to last a lifetime, come, travel with us! Jeanne Mills Tours is not affiliated with any other tour group.
