Welcome to the GCA & GA Event!!! Dear Participant, Here we are finally...a warm WELCOME to the 2014 Global Campus Alumni & E.MAlumni event! It looks like we will be a wonderful group of tremendous diversity, energy & experience, so... get ready for an unforgettable journey. Here are a few useful tips on logistics and technicalities that you want to learn before the journey begins. It's a checklist that we encourage you to go through carefully ;-) 1. ID!! Put your ID card/passport in your pocket: you will need to show that at the entrance of the European Commission building on Friday. Important: it has to be the document you registered to the event with 2. Info line. Register the following Info/emergency number in your mobile as you may need to call us if you are lost, late, or in troubles: +32 (0)483 426 061 3. Agenda. Print the Agenda for the 3 days that you will find at the end of this info note: you will know always where to go, for what event, @ any point in time 4. Getting around. Make sure you know how to reach the different venues from the station/airport/hotel you come from. The Google Maps + Metro plan in the coming pages will give you information on how to get to the venues form Central Brussels. 5. Fees & Expenses. The entrance to the venues and the attendance to the activities and events of the GCA&GA event are free of charge. However, please note that you may need to have some money on you for the following: - Metro and bus tickets No tickets will be refunded, so you will have to buy your own (see below for practical info on how and where to buy them) - Dinner & drinks on Friday night Meals and coffee breaks are provided free of charge on Friday & Saturday, except for the dinner on Friday. On Friday evening you will have to buy your own food & drinks, both of them available at the venue for the social event or not far. However : you are welcome to join us to the Friday evening social event even if you are not planning to buy any food or drink! - Additional foods & drinks The meals provided on Friday & Saturday provided are 'light' (especially the sandwich lunch on Friday). Carry some extra-food or extra money with in case you may need additional calories! - Active Membership subscription During the 3 days, it will be possible to easily sign-up & pay on-site for the active membership with the E.MAlumni Association (30 EUR for one-year membership). ** Remember: You need to be an Active member to have the right to vote during the General Assembly and to run for the upcoming Board elections. Your contribution is also extremely important as it will allow the Association to grow and develop new services & activities for all its members ** 6. Share your story! During the 3 days, Sofia (sofia.antunes@emalumni.org) will be interviewing Alumni who wish to share their story, professional path & E.MA experience for a short video of 1-3 min. No need to prepare for it, just be ready to answer when Sofia approaches you during breaks & evenings! Live stories from Alumni in the field give visibility to what human rights work concretely means. Be part of it. 7. Drinks & Moderation. Last but not least, make sure that you drink with moderation during the social events. We all need to be wide awake, active & lively to fully enjoy all the 3 days together.
