So many people have stepped forward and gotten involved with the planning and implementation of this event. To everyone who donated a raffle basket (or two), talked to sponsors, volunteered to haul all the equipment necessary, solicited donations and worked tirelessly on this event, a huge Thank You! To David & Christine who volunteered their home, the club is forever in your debt. To my wife who put up with months of my fretting, worrying, stress and hair-pulling anxiety.it s almost over! My hope is that you all feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in what we are about to do. I know the children, elderly and veterans that our donations benefit will be thankful, even when we don t always see it. Just a few more things for all of us to do to get ready - We will have a work-party at The White House Bed & Breakfast, August 11 at noon to set up for Friday night. We will also transfer a lot of items to storage at Coiner Park for Saturday. We will need a break-down crew to clean Coiner Park Saturday after everyone leaves and another clean-up crew to return to The White House Sunday morning to finalize the cleanup there. Finally, let s all make sure our guests have a quality experience. Jim One Nerve Left Garboden
VETTE GAZETTE July 4th Independence Day Rick & Kathy Garretson invited us to enjoy a leisurely afternoon at their beautiful home on the McKenzie River. After the parades and morning festivities, it was time to sit in the shade, gaze at the river, eat good food, spend time with friends and reflect on both the benefits and the sacrifices made so that we may live in this United States of America. July 8 We traveled to Roseburg to help Timberland Corvette Club kick off their 1st Annual Corvette City event, in conjunction with Graffiti Weekend. July 15 We hosted Cruise Oregon at an ice cream social at the EPUD facility. Route 26 Cruisers plan a classic car tour throughout the western states every year. For our generosity, they awarded us this hubcap. They also tipped very well! July 22 President s Mystery Tour 14 Corvettes followed GRIS GS over the river and through the woods in search of new roads. We saw places named Tyee, Umpqua, Melrose, Lookingglass and Tenmile before arriving at Bandon Dunes Golf complex for lunch at McKee s Pub. Our Bandon members, Frank & Kathe joined us for a total of 31 people. I hope everyone had as much fun driving the route as Nancy & I had planning the trip. Ps - the food at McKee s was really, really good!
VETTE GAZETTE Misc. Notes I would like to think this refers to traffic around our part of Oregon on August 21st! It has been estimated that the eclipse will bring several hundred-thousand, if not a million visitors to Oregon this month. All types of travel will be impacted as well as most travelrelated service industries (restaurants, fuel, grocery). We might be wise to buy essentials early and stay home from August 18 til August 23! Pacific Coast Corvette Club was invited to show our cars at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on September 23rd. PCCC would like to make it extra special for the museum and ask other clubs to also join us. Room availability is getting slim so if you would like to attend, please get your hotel/motel reservations then let me know how many of you to expect. PCCC is driving to World of Speed on Friday, 22nd, staying in Newberg that night, then heading to the Museum on Saturday. If you have any other questions, please contact me. Janell Logan, President Members are encouraged to start collecting back-to-school items to donate to multiple organizations later this month. Backpacks are on sale right now and are cheap! Watch for sales on Crayons, pencils, notebooks etc. Stock up now so CCC can make a big splash when we show up to donate! That s it! I ve got nothing! My mind has been dominated by Corvettes in the Park for so long that I can t think of anything else right now. Our home looks like a storage unit. The `56 hasn t been washed in two months. The garden is dead! I m Ready For Corvettes In The Park!!!
VETTE GAZETTE Happy Birthday! August 3 - Fred Willer August 7 - Al Sather August 7 - John Naulty August 9 - Shawn Kelley August 11 - JoAnn Syron August 14 - Vic Blomquist August 17 - Larry Thomas August 22 - Kim Bailey August 29 - Joe Heidrick Club Clothing We have two sources for embroidered club clothing: A Stitchin Time Tangent, OR Tire Pressure A question was asked recently when a member discovered their Corvette had one or more tires with low pressure before a run. They were unsure what pressure to fill the tire. I was able to explain the Tire and Loading Information sticker located in the driver s side door jamb. This sticker shows that GM recommends a cold pressure reading of 30 psi. (Cold meaning the car has sat overnight or several hours) When you are driving the car and heat builds up in the tire, pressure will increase accordingly. After several hours of driving, our tires show a pressure of 33-34 psi. This member also asked about the notation on the outside of the tire regarding Max Pressure. This is the maximum air pressure the tire can withstand before failure. Never, ever fill your tires to this number! If you use the 30 psi inflation your tires will ride better and last longer. Order form available on their website: www.a-stitchin.com and Fiddler s Green Eugene, OR In stock and catalog items available Pick up the August issue of Free For All magazine and read the article about Cascade Corvette Club and Corvettes in the Park.
