Director s Saddle Hello fellow SNHOG members!! Can you believe that January is over and February is upon us!!! It won t be long and Spring will be here! We ve had fantastic riding weather so far and had huge turnouts for the Hair of the HOG ride, Over the Hump to Pahrump ride and also the Frosty Balls Poker run! It has been great to see all of the new people and really nice to see some of our members that haven t ridden with us in a while!!! As we move forward in to 2018 I would like to remind all of you that we have some great rides scheduled and also some cool overnighters planned. As a matter of fact, we have our annual San Diego overnighter in February and the rooms are booking up quickly. If you are planning on coming with us on that trip, I highly recommend that you get your reservation asap. At the December and January General membership meetings, we asked the entire group to provide some ride ideas and we have implemented quite a few, so Thank you for your assistance on that! Steve Ritchey, our Chapter Manager was kind enough to provide some Motorcycle Safety Training for our Road Captains and they allowed Dirk (Assistant Director) and myself to attend. The message of the day was Stay Focused and aware of your surroundings at all times! This actually applies to all of our motorcycle riding community. January has been a busy month for our Chapter Officers and we have made numerous changes. I know that Change is not always easy, but it is necessary and I appreciate the support that has been given during this time! I m looking forward to a wonderful 2018 and would like to invite all of you to try and join us for the Chapter Rides, Overnighters and Meet and Eats. See you on the Road!!! Randy Roberts Page 2

By: Linda Hapner I got my first Harley in June of 2015. In August, I had a first date with a Harley Hunk and we rode the country roads, stopped for lunch and also went to the Woodstock Harley Dealer. He said that there was something he had to buy for me and directed me to the Guardian Bell display. I had no idea what they were, but he bought me one and even installed it. You ll see from the history of the bell that it is best if it is given as a gift, so head over to Las Vegas Harley and use your club discount card and buy one for someone you love and want to protect. From www.guardianbell.com Legend has it that Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where potholes come from?) Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift. Show someone how much you care. Offer them defense against the Evil Road Spirits! Give a Guardian Bell and share the Legend of Good Luck it offers to a motorcycle and its rider! I ve done an informal survey of riders and everyone has at least one bell on their bike. I d say about 50% had more than one bell. I noticed our LOH officer Nancy had three bells on her bike. John Hasley from HOG even uses them on his luggage! I know it sounds silly, but I have a ride bell on my luggage. Often I have to fly back to Milwaukee and back to the bike. So far, knocking on wood again, the airlines haven t lost my bag.
