A speed survey was carried out on Fri 31 st Jan 2014 at the speed limit change for a total duration of 7 days. It was found the average speed of north bound traffic was 46.3mph and the average speed for south bound traffic was 37.3mph. The survey shows that a buffer zone of 40mph is warranted. BOWES ROAD : Westbound mean speed is 21.4 mph, Eastbound mean speed is 21.3 mph - BROOME GROVE : Northbound mean speed is 21.5 mph, Southbound mean speed is 19.1 mph - The mean speeds for the areas suggest that the speed of vehicles falls within the boundaries of a 20 mph zone. The panel should consider that any lining installed will be a future maintenance liability as the edges of the verge do encroach onto the track and may cover the lining. The lining may become slippery when wet Scott- Boutell 6,000 LCOL142 026 Meyrick Crescent speed humps (x6) it is felt that traffic passes by much too fast - speeding traffic and school children use this road. A speed survey has been requested to ensure that speeding cars are an issue. Residents should be consulted before design is carried out. I would like to undertake a speed survey at the southern end just to ensure drivers have not increased their speeds as we have had several collisions on the bridge structure in the last few years and this information will help inform what improvements should be made to ensure drivers are informed of the need to slow and take the bend with the bridge at a slower speed Bentley 20,000 LCOL133 001 Land Lane, Colchester dropped kerb, there is a dropped kerb at the end of Land Lane, there is no dropped kerb opposite people with walking aids are faced with the difficulty of negotiating the kerb on a difficult bend and those with mobility scooters are forced to drive along the roadway rather than the footpath Design previously agreed Higgins 3,250 LCOL142 064 Tesco at The Hythe Colchester investigation into the signals and how they are operating concerns raised about the sequences of lights and congestion an initial check completed and confirmation that the site is operating as designed without faults. we need to fully investigate the situation and understand any potential impact Young 2,000 Total: 253,250 Printed on 11/06/2014 Page 7 of 11
