USS BREMERTON has had an eventful year, from start to finish. The ship started the year with a short underway with ADM A. H. Konetzni, Commander of Submarines, Pacific Fleet. The ship then enjoyed a quality of life port visit in San Francisco at the beginning of February. After an upkeep in March, BREMERTON started the Pre-Overseas Movement Certification process, and left for a six-month Western Pacific deployment in June. During the deployment, BF.EMERTON conducted two missions vital to national security anc. participated in two multi-national exercises. The first exercise, MULTI-SAIL was a joint exercise with the Japanese Defense For e (JDF) during which BREMERTON assisted both U. S. and JDF su face ships in identifying and tracking submarines. The sec nd exercise, ANNUALEX was also a joint exercise with the JDF a d consisted of an end of training cycle naval proficiency displ Upon returning to San Di, the ship conducted an Operational Reactor Safeguard xamination on December 3rd and 4th. After the deployment, BR RTON finished the year with a post-deployment and holiday s After returning from sta January, BREMERTON successfully completed a Nucl s Acceptance Inspection, and proceeded to Bangor, Wash load an exercise TLAM-N and conduct a successful QAST unch in March. During the remainder of March until June MERTON conducted an interdeployment drydocking fo maintenance items including a dual media resin and shaft repair. Encl (3)
